Breakfast was kaiseki style as was dinner. There were no choices as far as style like Western vs. Japanese as I've had at another similar style hotel in the past. The food was good, not great also in comparison to two other similar experiences I have had. Serve yourself coffee/tea in the morning. Location was amazing. Long walk from main area of Yufuin but through amazing rice fields and lovely neighborhood. It was also an easy walk to the Lake which we did on our last morning. Size of the room 303 was really large with separate living area that could transform into a bed room for extra guests. Two twin sized beds so we slept separately. Happy Hour after dinner with make your own drinks was nice. Garden setting was lovely to walk thru.
Overall condition of the room was a little bit tired. The shower is the same outdoor shower that you use to get in and out of the onsen from. So it's a little less conventional for Westerners but it works. Bathroom amenities were minimal and not up to my particular liking or standard. No real body lotion some packet that wasn't really lotion. I used our private onset more but did go to the Women's public onset once and it was very nice with rocks etc...

Everything was phenomenal and beyond my expectations, to finally experience an authentic onsen in a town with Mt Yufu in the backdrop is a memory I’ll have forever with my partner! The staff were pleasant and amenities were very clean and quiet, while giving also a romantic secluded getaway feeling.
More signage to find the hotel when turning in. Ambiguous which driveway. Could’ve been because it was raining the day I visited but I turned in on the second street after the sign.

Highly friendly staff, decent food quality (for adult meals)
The room I stayed in (room 303) need more maintenance (taps have lots of stains, lots of moquitos in the room, have a cockroach as well).
Body soap (in a big refillable bottle) when we arrived at our room were very low in quantity (only 20% of bottle capacity).
All 4 meals for kids were 80% made up of sausages, bacon, fried food which is highly unhealthy. Why can't some healthy Japanese food (smaller portion of adult meals) be prepared for kids?
