Hosts are super kind and welcoming! Loved the local snack bar next door, if you enjoy sleeping early then you may not like it because it does close around midnight (we didn't mind). Plus they're super kind at the snack bar, and the food is great too. Great location!!! If you're renting a car from the centre, beware the super steep hill up. If it's your first time in Madeira and renting a car, it's not a joke when they say get an automatic or get the plus insurance. The apartment is massive! The biggest accomodation we had so far, and the balcony/views are amazing...
I don't think it's an issue by the hosts, but the bathroom definitely smells like bathroom/sewage! Could be the pipes, it is an island afterall. If you're sensitive to smells, just be aware!

Convenient location to catch the bus for Valley of the Nuns. Shower was hot and good water pressure. Kitchen was spacious and well equipped.
Communication with the host prior to arrival was incredibly poor, ten days to reply to emails. Paying by money transfer involved an unknown 6% markup or extra 20 euros. The view can only be enjoyed from the balcony but there is no umbrella so it’s too hot to sit and enjoy. The neighbourhood is noisy with dogs and chickens and traffic right outside the front door. The lighting in the rooms is garishly bright like a hospital surgery and could really use some softer bulbs or lamps.
