We so enjoyed our 2 week holiday in this beautiful gite in Agudelle. It is surrounded by rolling countryside with all sorts of wildlife in the hedges, fields, woodlands and local reservoir. The cottage itself has everything you need, comfortable bed, plenty of towels, clean and cosy, including a lovely welcome treat of local wine and fresh produce. Loungers, and seating area in the garden, perfect for eating out, relaxing and watching the beautiful sunsets. At night, with no light pollution, the sky is alive with stars. Kate and Jacalyn are lovely people and brilliant hosts, they are very knowledgeable about the area and where to visit, we took their advice on this often and were not disappointed. They have bicycles available, should you wish to experience the local area on 2 wheels - we did and loved every minute. Their hospitality was second to none and nothing was too much trouble. Their home and garden is lovely, hearing their experiences, sharing their projects and dreams was a delight to hear - chickens, vegetables, wildflower plots and a gorgeous walnut tree where we sat under one night. The closest town is Jonzac and has plenty of amenities such as restaurants, bakery, castle, river, water park and is only 5 miles away, which we walked to one day and thoroughly enjoyed. We certainly recommend you book, we will be returning again in the future.
Time went too quickly - of all the holidays we have had, this one, we really didn't want to end!

Perfect place to relax. Everything for good staying: very comfortable bed, everything for cooking, washing mashing, good wifi, table and chairs outside. Nice owner, Kate. To Jonzac just 7-8 minutes by car, to Cognac 40 min, to Royan 1 hour.

We thought we had died and were in heaven! I am so glad that we stayed longer and that we are able to provide 20/10 score. This is also a great opportunity to cover a couple of the bits that we missed on our previous review. This little diamond of a gite is in the heart of the Charente countryside, you wake up to a chorus of a multitude of birds singing away, the sound of a light breeze gently blowing the cornfields which are right on your door step. At night time you can hear owls hooting and thousands of crickets stridulating. You feel so incredibly connected to nature. Kate (our host) left a couple of push bikes out for us on off chance that we may like to go for a ride and boy are we glad that she did. The area is definitely worth exploring with a little pedal power and it's great fun too. If you are considering making a booking, please do not hesitate - This property has a high score for a reason... The whole experience is awesome. I would say enjoy your stay but I know that you will!
