Very friendly and forthcoming hosts, with an easygoing check-in solution despite our (flight delay caused) midnight arrival. We even had freshly laid eggs off the estate in a basket in the kitchen. The kitchen is well-stacked with everything you might expect and read to cook a full on meal. Beautiful starting point to experiencing the countryside. Closest town, Malton, was a positive surprise when visiting and is worth a stop.
We felt this was a really good option to stay and had friendly hosts.
Just keep in mind the bath is right next to the bed, in very close proximity, and without a proper door, just divided by a sliding door. Should this offset you, it might be worth knowing, otherwise this is just part of the cozy cottage.

The peace. The quiet. It was a complete escape from the world. Soo quiet, apart from the birdsong. We really needed a break and this little house was so cosy and so quiet, with an adorable little seating area outside, that we ended up booking an extra night! I'd have been so disappointed if it hadn't been available. We visited Castle Howard which was amazing. Then we spent a day locally, going around Kirkham Abbey ruins beside the Derwent, walking along the river and around the village, as far as the mediaeval church. Nothing but wildflowers and butterflies. Lots of eateries and drinkeries in nearby Malton and you can stock up for a picnic at M&S, Asda, Morrison's etc. Loved that there was an airfryer and a washer/drier and a dishwasher! Even little Westow has a gastropub, open Weds - Sun.
Too many cushions. Too many house plants. A few too many nicknacks. Well, you did ask.
But we probably had too much luggage!
