The room had been updated a couple of years ago and they're well appointed and comfortable. The food at the Hotel Restaurant is excellent and wonderful value for money.

The room was brilliant. Fresh, clean and sparkling.
Checking in after reception is closed is NOT recommended. I'd been told by someone else it was bad, but I thought they might be exaggerating. I'm absolutely not opposed to going to the bar to check in, but the attitude of the woman behind the bar was appalling....as was the time she made me wait even though she was not busy. Finally, someone else from the other side of the bar....who WAS busy, saw me waiting and came over. Only then did she stop cleaning glasses and come over...claiming she couldn't touch paperwork because her hands were wet! I've worked in hospitality and would have been fired if I'd had her attitude. Don't know if others have also encountered her, or if that's the culture of the bar. The woman in the accommodation reception the next morning was very professional.
