Murray Library Hostel

Good size room. Great kitchen and lounge area. Really useful, had everything. Quiet place.

No heating morning and night. It was just a touch chilly for me.

This hostel is absolutely lovely! The building is centrally located and easy to find. The interior has been remodelled really nicely to support a hostel while still retaining original features from the old library and various little nods to the history. The room had a beautiful view of the harbour and the beds were comfy and sturdy. The entire place was spotlessly clean and the staff friendly. All the codes needed to access the building and the room were sent days in advance and there was a sign on the door saying they would be in the email for people who hadn’t seen. The showers were absolutely lovely- steaming hot, private and better water pressure than I have at home. The kitchen had a lovely atmosphere and any food left behind was clearly labelled as open use both in the fridge and on the side. There were 2 6 hob cookers along with several ovens and 2 sinks to allow multiple people to cook at once and there was free tea, sugar and ground coffee. Lots of charming crockery available and a wealth of pots, pans and other kitchen implements available and easy to find. Had a lovely stay and would absolutely go back!

My one ever so slight bug bear is the parking situation. There is very limited parking in the village and the 2 streets they said I should be able to park on were absolutely full. I ended up having to park around a 15 minute walk away which isn’t the end of the world just something people should be aware of. It’s always hard to park when you’re right on a sea front and there’s not a huge amount they can do about it hence i’ve not docked points!

great location. Very friendly helpful staff went above and beyond to keep us happy. Really enjoyed our stay comfy clean room . Will definatley be back. We as a family all loved it . No complaints at all which is un usual for me. Kids especially loved the communal room . The piano was a great hit with them and all the other entertainment games books musical instruments. Kept them entertained as we enjoyed a wee glass of wine through in the kitchen with large sociable table . Excellent place to visit. Thoroughly recommend…..
