Wonderful quiet waterfront location in a wonderful relaxed town. Great place to unwind at the end of our Galapagos holiday. As only guests during our stay we had the whole house to ourselves, which was amazing, including a full kitchen, living area, and washing machine for our accumulated laundry. Very big and comfy bed. Host Whitman was highly attentive and full of helpful information and advice. Breakfast in the Sea Garden Café (included in the price) was ample, fresh and innovative.
We did not have access to the air conditioning, which would have made the nights less stuffy. If the house is full, then count on sharing space and facilities with several strangers.
We were a bit put off that the host would charge 15% extra for a credit card payment, which we have never encountered before, including elsewhere in the Galapagos, where some have no surcharge and some add 8%, but 15% is excessive. We ended up paying in cash, which required the unwelcome hassle of extra withdrawal from local unreliable ATMs. The particulars for Mare Mio should be amended to make this payment condition explicit and transparent.

This place is in a great location off the track but still a 5 min walk to restaurants. There is a beach our front which is home to about 150 seals and sea lions which come there at night. I don't know that we would have seen them if we wouldn't have stayed here.
Our flight to San Crisbol was turned around just as we were about to land so we go there the follwoing day. I messaged the host about it when it happened and there was no answer. I called him later and he said it was no problem and we wouldn't be charged for the night. When we arrived he seemed friendly and said they were just getting the room ready and checkin was at 4 pm. Since we weren't going to pay for the room I thought that was fair. We had arrived at 10 am and went into the town to see if we could find a tour to Espanola since we had missed it coming in late. We got back around 2 or 3 pm and he said the room we had booked was being used by another person so we had to stay in a bedroom with two full beds instead of a King. The host seemed to be dishonest with many things including saying he would book taxis or help us book a tour but seeimingly do nothing. At the end he tried to charge for the missed night even though he had booked it with somemone else. He is dishonest.
