Host is most welcoming.
Kitchen/dining area was clean and bright with adequate cutlery. Ample hot plates, both gas or electric. microwaves and kettles.
Laundry and drying machines are excellent coin operated, great for when you require tramping gear cleaned and dry for your next day great tramp.
Tui song from surrounding bush, very pleasant.
Fantastic 10 min (slow stroll) to town centre, swimming pool/gym and supermarkets along the Pàtèa river bush trail.
Room floor covering odour was quite unpleasant...(I understand this is a camp style facility with tramping high on the list of guest activities, But the room that I was given could do with the floor covering replaced)
Door closing by other guest was very disruptive due to the antiquated locking mechanism's (not a problem if you (being of an age to) have an understanding of how these old locks function.Unfortunately for me this night of my stay my neighbouring guests' were younger international tourist whom slammed their entrance door closed several times throughout the night, inadvertently awakening me. Not exactly a plus)
Also noise from slamming vehicle doors and loud conversation by what seemed like a long term staying work crew loading their van to head out of camp in the early dawn completely shortened my rest, making my stay questionable!
Toilet cubicles are 'a bit' on the tiny size!. I am not a large person (1.8 tall, 80kgs) But I found it quite difficult to manoeuvre comfortably.
