About this cottage rental

Situated in Arrowsic, this attractive cottage for $199 per night is a great option for your next vacation. Want a unique vacation? Everyone loves the idea of their own island. Peaceful, quiet and away from it all. In recent years we even have a nesting bald eagle pair! Our cottage is rustic, no running water and no electricity. We have a propane stove, refrigerator, and lanterns. Guests must bring water and small propane canisters for their stay. Guests are required to clean before departure. Bathroom is within the cottage and has an odor free composting toilet. For showering needs we have a camp style solar shower. Bedroom has a full-size bed. Crow's nest has a small futon that opens for an additional bed for one. The $300 fee is the cost of the boat captain to make one trip to deliver you and your gear to the island and one to take you back. If you will be coming in your own boat or kayak, please let us know and we can refund that fee if we aren't hiring the captain. Depending on the captain's schedule often arrival is the last trip of day and departure is 8 am. Additional trips can be arranged with our captains as well as sightseeing tours. Please note the captain charges $25 to transport a pet. We have a dock if you would be interested in bringing your own boat. Boat rentals also available nearby. Arrival and departure times are dependent on the captain's availability. See Bald eagles and seals. You can fish for striped bass right off the island. Water views from every window. The upper floor of the cottage is the Crow's nest (a tiny space accessible from a ladder below,) in the treetops with great sunset views. Bring your kayaks! Crow Island was mentioned in the book "Rivers of Memory" by John Gibson To quote Rachel Field, “If once you have slept on an island. You’ll never quite be the same.”

My husband and myself have spent multiple years returning to the island. We really highly recommend it for the rustic nature loving souls who are searching for some serious separation from chaos. Deb and her husband are also just wonderful to work with. A tree had fallen in the pathway and her husband drove a long distance to come cut it out of the way and even found me on the island to ask if we were okay with the way he had moved and cut the tree. Just a wonderful family. We spend much of our time watching the dogs run around in pure happiness, fishing, watching the seals and other wildlife and going for long walks on the flats. One year a young seal came up on the island after it was injured and we gave it space to rest for a while (we called the experts for advice). Just such a beautiful place to be. Few things we have picked up over the years: to help the cleaning process at the end we brought a battery powered vacuum (we also have very furry dogs so we try to do our best to clean all the fur up). When staying for a week we bring a cooler with ice and use that for a couple days (they also have a cooler there) and then transfer everything to the fridge that’s left the last couple days. The current is fast and pup life vests or leads are literally life saving. The hosts really are remarkable - have accommodated us way above and beyond expected this last trip and always listened to our concerns previously. Really amazing people and beautiful place. We are grateful.

Idyllic off-grid experience. It was the adventure we wanted. I have stayed in another island location offered by the same owner (inland on Lake Cobbossee), so was prepared to bring necessary food, water, propane, and bedding. Everything else was provided - and then some! The cabin was clean, comfortable, and well-outfitted with all the necessities and amenities. The location was amazing! There is something special about being the only souls on a remote-feeling island. The dogs, of course, loved it. They would definitely also give this place 5 Stars! We had two kayaks delivered to the boat launch at Morse Cove by Sea Spray (a sit-on-top, and an ocean kayak with a rudder). They handled the drop-off and pick-up and were very pleasant and professional. We saw some great wildlife, too - seals and eagles, a real treat. We definitely can't say enough good things, too, about Captain Gary (River Run Tours). He was a major part of the experience, for us, and was exceptionally helpful, pleasant, and professional. While the weather wasn't great, it actually helped make our stay a great "experience." Would definitely stay again!

What an experience. If you need a few days to reset your life this is the place to go. Very rustic, peaceful and quiet. The host communicated great. The boat ride was amazing and the captains both were friendly and pointed out the wildlife along the way. As for the property, the description is spot on. I highly recommend bringing more than you think you might need. We brought out SUP and it was perfect.

Deb's cabin on Crow Island is a wonderful place to disappear for a few days. From the boat ride in (Captain Gary is super nice!) to the cabin and the island itself, it was exactly what my wife, dog and I were looking for! The cabin itself is equipped with all the necessities (although it being an off-grid cabin, Deb provides a good list of things to bring). It was also cleaned well, so we did our best to leave it in good shape for the next guests!
