Victoria hotel is an older property situated a stones throw from the sea front in Portknockie. Inside there is a wide mahogany staircase leading upstairs to the bedrooms and rooms to the dining room, lounge bar and public bar off the corridor. We were welcomed into the hotel and shown directly to our room. It was a little chilly, but Lorraine went straight upstairs and sorted our radiator which was brilliant.
We were on the top floor and our room was clean and well presented. It had older style dark wood furniture in keeping with the rest of the property. The bed was comfortable with fresh white bedding. There have been other comments about squeaky beds - it does squeak, but it was so comfortable and cosy it did not affect us.
There is a small en suite shower room off the bedroom - slightly variable temperature on the shower but good water pressure especially for an older building. Fluffy white towels were provided and hand soap/ shampoo.
Breakfast is served downstairs - a continental style self-service and a hot option if you prefer it. This was cooked to order and the portions sizes were generous - and delicious. We had dinner in the lounge bar, where there was a choice of food including 4 vegetarian options, which was a great surprise. Huge portions of freshly cooked food and very reasonable prices. The public bar had a lot of local people drinking there, so obviously the beer is good. I had a local gin and tonic - Lorraineās recommendation- and it was lovely.
We really enjoyed our stay. It is not a high end hotel, it is a comfortable, friendly and extremely good value hotel and I would not hesitate to recommend it for visitors to the area.

Location and the view from our room. Nice size also. Friendly staff
Breakfast not included, 5 pounds for continental seems pricey... not many options for dinner around

The room was large and quite luxurious with windows in two directions. We enjoyed the cliff walks and beaches.

Dinner was very good. The other two places in the village both close on the same days each week, leaving the hotel as the only option (and vice versa on other days, so that there is always somewhere to get dinner). Friendly staff. Safe place to store bicycles.
Everything was good. Didn't take breakfast (only a continental option).

It has a nice friendly atmosphere, lots of whiskyās to taste with a great guide (barman) and situated in an interesting town. Great food too š
The only thing was the shower-it was a bit cramped and the water didnāt drain away properly.

Loved the location and peaceful setting. Easy walk to Bow Fiddle Rock trail and coastline. Comfortable and clean. Spacious rooms. Easy nearby parking. Great for one night.
Lots and lots of squeaky stairs, but itās an old European building so not unexpected. There was nothing open in town in June so not sure if there are normally options for shops or restaurants other than the hotel. Need 2 chairs (only had 1) in room 7 and a mini fridge would be awesome.

Loved the warm friendly welcome, it was like a home from home. Fabulous meal and breakfast. We only stayed one night but really didn't want to leave. Portknockie itself is so peaceful, great to just stop and switch off from the world for a wee bit. Can't wait to go back.

Very friendly host and also the locals in the pub downstairs were most friendly. The rooms and beds are okĆ©. Dinner was prepared very well and tasted great. Overall our compliments šš»
No eggs available with breakfast. The toilet in room nr.2 sounds like a plane toilet when flushing.

We booked a spontaneous visit for the bank holiday weekend and loved our stay. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating, the rooms were comfy and warm, we slept very well! The rooms were quiet, but it was lively downstairs with the small reasonably-priced restaurant and separated pub.
The breakfast was better than expected. Weāve done a lot of travelling and when you see ācontinental breakfastā, from experience, it lowers our expectations. But this was not the case at The Victoria Hotel, the breakfast was diverse and very filling.
In terms of the area itself, Portknockie is a great mid-sized village with fascinating architecture. Itās perfectly located as we used it as a base to road trip the beautiful North East Scotland for three days.
With the new owners of the property I can see The Victoria Hotel getting even better and more popular overtime. Itās clear that they are very passionate about the property.
