Was a pleasant enough stay for sleeping (not chilling in the room), walking to the beach, and a good free breakfast.

Location is great and staff were super friendly. Lots of places to put clothes. Room was clean.

The room was tight. Lightning was poor: The one light in room was dim and strobed a bit and we often kept the curtain closed for privacy (all room windows face inner courtyard). Bed linens were clean but not soft.

Great location and incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are clean and and at a great value.

The complimentary breakfast was amazing!

The restaurant wasn't open for dinner this particular week, but they had some renovations going on. We've heard all the food is excellent. Will definitely try next time we visit.

Superb

Nothing exceptional...but great value for the money. The first room we were given didn't fit our needs so we spoke to the front desk and they switched our room right away. Staff were great... breakfast was great...room was great...a/c worked great....just nice when things are the way they should be

Good location and good breakfast but rooms could be better

Great (restaurant-quality) breakfast, friendly staff, good location, relatively close to the beach, air conditionner

The rooms are too basic with cracks and peeling paint, little privacy with the only window giving to the main hallway, so the curtains have to be closed almost all the time with no natural light. No swimming pool

location in the town: not far but not so closed of downtown welcome very nice room cleaned every day breakfast very good

no window in the room; and when you go out of the room you smell cooking oil strongly; need to perform on that to reduce this smell

The location is good. You have a bed for a pretty Leo price

The a/c is leaking lots of water either onto your bed of even worse onto a electrical socket and later forming a lake on the floor!!! Not good at all!

Basic hotel that’s good value for money.

Friendly staff. Good breakfast. Excellent location. Nice air conditioning. Good supply of hot water. I’d stay here again.

Wi-Fi was too intermittent to do any serious work or make video calls. The room was basic. I found the bed slightly uncomfortable. I could feel the springs. The room could have done with a mini fridge.

Wanted to experience Samara and Hotel Esmeralda was affordable and very pleasant.

Short walk to beach and everything Samara has to offer. Great complimentary breakfast and nice restaurant. friendly helpful staff. Clean facility.

Great staff, great breakfast, aircon and hot water!

The team who run this hotel are so helpful and friendly. The free breakfast is fantastic - you can choose what you want from the menu. You're not just limited to a tipico breakfast. We didn't eat dinner here but I think we should have, based on how tasty the breakfast was. The aircon in the room is very good. The room was very clean and the shower was hot. The hotel is also located in a great place - only a few minutes walk to the beach and also to the bus stop for San Jose.

The decor is pretty dated but that didn't matter to us, given how comfortable the beds were and the fact there was aircon and hot water (which isn't always the case in Costa Rica!). The WiFi is a little weak in the rooms closer to the back of the hotel, but you can just go sit in the upstairs terrace overlooking the road to get a stronger connection.

Good value for money, great stuff, would visit again

Very convenient location, walking distance to the beach and all the restaurants, great and friendly stuff running this hotel. The food at the restaurant is also very nice

Rooms are basic and have no window, can get hot and humid, but the airconditioning works to avoid this

Perfect stay!

Everything was perfect. I was agreeably surprised by the hotel. Casa Esmerelda is close to everything in Samara. I don't know if it was the owner or the manager, but the service was exceptional. I was travelling alone, and he was very helpful. He was also very accommodating, and managed to make some changes to my breakfast. The room was also very clean. The air conditionning was working perfectly.

Everything was perfect. I don't have any negative comment to mention.
