Room 802 Penthouse - Terrible.

Location of this property is good for visiting elderly relative

We arrived on a very hot and humid day. Only at check in were we informed 3 out of 4 air conditioners in the apartment were not working. The only air conditioner that was working was upstairs in a bedroom. We booked the Penthouse Room 802 which came with a very big price tag about three weeks before arrival. Apparently the air conditioning wasn’t working around Australia Day one week earlier 26/27 Jan. We were charged for the room on 30 Jan. Management had time to inform us about the air conditioning and provide an option of keeping the room or changing to another room but decided to tell us at check in and take our money for the Penthouse. The room was closed up when we entered and it was unbearably hot and humid inside. The air conditioner that was working was dripping water on the carpets and we were asked to empty the bucket as required. They didn’t even provide pedestal fans to help with air movement. No offer to discount any money due to standard of room. Spoke to receptionist at book-in about the possibility of a discount and was told they would speak to management and let me know. Didn’t hear anything from them. The standard of furnishings and kitchen were not to the standard or the price tag of a penthouse. Think twice about booking this room. It is only a Penthouse because it is at the top of the building.

In need of a face lift certainly not LUXURY

location was great

road noise no double glazing windows, floor boards were creaking, no air con in bedrooms, very warm in bedrooms, light in main bathroom not working, no ventilation in bathrooms vents not clean at all and no extraction of air, air condition water overflow pipe in shower recess so wet all the time, Foxtel was included but had very minimal channels, fridge froze our food and drinks, pool toilets locked on Monday morning 7am so couldn't use, no paper towel or cleaning equipment for pool BBQ, went to have BBQ on Australia day at pool and was told by a resident of the tower that they are using the area and is for residents only which they had two tables set up at 6am in the morning so went to use the BBQ out the back and it was full of MacDonald's rubbish and rusted out, the foyer areas where you get into the lifts were stifling hot and had no air flow, the pool water was unclear at times but seen they had placed chemicals in during the week to solve this, it is called 'LUXURY APPARTMENTS' but the place is in need of a major face lift especially the pool area as plenty of cracked tiles, paved area is poor and sharp in areas and poor filtering of pool it seemed. happy to speak with someone if they want to ask about my experience

Comfortable stay in Tuncurry

We had secure parking with unit, 2 car spaces. We were on the 7th floor with 2 balconies overlooking the bridge and the entrance to the lakes. Very nice view with good chairs to lounge on plus outside table and chairs. The sun was off the balconies by about lunch time so we never suffered from too much heat. Very comfortable lounge area with huge TV. Bedroom had good firm bed. Plenty of hot water and very good water pressure in shower.

The curtains in the bed room and the main lounge have shrunk, this needs to be addressed to make it dark early in the morning as the sun hits full on across the apartment. I was unable to tell anyone as I never saw anyone around.

A wonderful hotel situated in one of the most beautiful seaside locations you could imagine.

Tuncurry is a wonderful place and the hotel is located opposite Wallis Lake with views across the estuary and out to sea. It is an amazing location and place, which we've been visiting for 50 years.

Central clean apartment overlooking the bridge and river, walk to supermarket, but quiet.

The entire process, booking, parking, access to lifts, access to all necessary amenities, ceiling fans in each room, very very clean linen , big bathrooms and rooms generally, wonderful view from the balcony, quiet. Couldn’t ask for better

The fact it was within walking distance to everything was a bonus! Receptionist was fantastic and the apartment itself was more than we asked for, exceeding our expectations!

The apartment itself was spotless in terms of cleanliness, presentation and thoughtfulness of amenities. It is a little dated but very manageable. The location is fine from a convenience perspective however the main bedroom of apartment 202 is directly on the main road. Unless you are used to noise this will be an issue.

I travelled with my small pet dog contrary to booking conditions because at the last minute it was absolutely unavoidable. I was booked for 5 days to recover from spine surgery. I was not met by anyone when I checked in and I did not speak to anyone at all for a couple of days simply coming and going with my pet dog. I had no reason to think I had caused unnecessary stress by bringing my pet dog. Halfway through my booking, on the back of a 'regulatory fire inspection ', I was called by reception staff to explain they had seen I had a dog staying while checking the fire alarm and demanded I rectify the situation. Whilst admittedly being in the wrong for taking my small dog, what defies belief is that reception then admitted to being owners of apartment/s in the building - which is pet friendly - and they also have a dog. Irrespective of having only two nights left myself and my pug were evicted anyway at a loss of $600. As we arrived one day after our booking due to my leaving hospital late, I effectively stayed 1.5 days for $1500. I have been going to Tuncurry for 40 years and chose this location against my better judgement. Technically reception might have been correct but the irony of kicking us out, because of my little dog, when they are not only residents but also have their own dog, is completely ridiculous. What perhaps might have been more appropriate would have been to understand our position, accept my apology, and look the other way for 48 hours.
