We really enjoyed our stay at the Merkanti Apartments – we stayed in “Apartment - 4 Floor”. The accommodation is ideally located for sightseeing, and the host was very friendly and helpful. Everything seemed to be just a short walk away – which was great. We did not find the church bells or the street sounds to be a problem.
The accommodation could do with a refresh, and I understand that is the plan. In the short term, it would be a good idea to fit a blind in the bathroom and a better smart TV (so useful for watching YouTube videos about Malta and planning where to go). Note that the rooftop terrace shown in the photos is a shared area. Also, the street view shown is not from this apartment.

Location location location
Stairs. But I did know about stairs and wanted the view of the harbor especially sunrise.

The location was fantastic, in the centre, but quiet at night. Close to Barrakka Gardens and the lift. Hearing the cathedral bells added to the ambiance. Generous sized apartment. Loved the windows opening to allow observation of the street goings-on. Leonard as host was kind and very responsive. Easy access and all the essentials.

The location was good
Communication with owner was good
Very noisy - the church bells opposite went off every hour
The pedestrian street was noisy with people leaving restaurants/party revellers
Too many stairs - 80 steps in total
The apartment was large, was functional but had no style/charm. Seemed like it was stuck in a time warp
Should have had instructions for operating TV as it did not work but owner did volunteer to come over to help out
