Nuestra experiencia en Amak Iquitos ha sido fantástica. El lugar es precioso, el entorno transmite mucha tranquilidad y todo el personal ha sido muy amable y atento durante nuestra estancia. Pero, sin duda, mención especial para el cocinero: ¡todo estaba buenísimo! Cada comida que probamos estaba deliciosa, muy bien preparada y con muchísimo sabor. Ha sido, sin duda, uno de los puntos fuertes de nuestra estancia y hemos disfrutado muchísimo de cada plato. Un sitio totalmente recomendable si visitas Iquitos y buscas disfrutar de una experiencia especial, rodeado de naturaleza y con una cocina increíble.

Carlos! Jag säger bara Carlos! Han var vår guide under vår 3/2 vistelse. Kan verkligen rekommendera 3 dagar/2 nätter paketet. Ett lugnt men ändå innehållsrikt program som ger allt. Natur, upplevelser och kultur. Men som sagt, Carlos, vilken man! Han tog oss verkligen som individer och inte turister. Vi fick vara med honom när han gjorde det han gjort under ett helt liv i djungeln och det han tycker om. Faktiskt en annan känsla än när någon visar mig saker att göra. Bara pirayafiske! Han kör igång och fiskar, som han gjort sedan barnsben. Vips kommer det upp en piraya! Han ger oss varsitt spö, lite kött att agna med och säger, nu kan ni pröva! Han lånar ut sin lilla kanot som jag vingligt tar mig fram med. Han tar oss till byar och människor som precis som vi går till jobbet, till kindergarten eller skola om dagarna, men mitt i djungeln. Han hittar diverse drycker och matbitar i byn som vi bara "måste" pröva. Med viss skepsis, men oj vilken upplevelse och nej, vi var kärnfriska när vi kom och kärnfriska när vi åkte! Vi körde fast med båten i flytande växter men tog oss loss efter någon timme. Som om inte det var nog så lyckas han en mycket tidig morgon i soluppgången hitta en flock rosa delfiner på floden som vi får sitta mycket nära och bara beundras av. Tack Carlos! Stället ligger annars ca 1,5 timmes båtfärd från Iquitos. Utmed en flodarm på väg ner mot Indiana som är närmare. Allt är fräscht och maten god. Som det ska vara i djungeln finns det inte vatten och el hela dygnet, men absolut mer än tillräckligt. Vi var där i mitten av juni, inte alls så varmt och inte alls så regnigt som befarat för en nordeuropé. Perfekt väder! För oss, en familj med tre vuxna barn 21, 24 och 26 från en förort till Stockholm var det ett perfekt sätt att komma så nära den vilda djungeln man kan komma utan att gå över till rent expeditionsliv.

My stay cost around $1,000 for two people for 4 days and 3 nights. Unfortunately, the experience did not meet expectations, and I cannot recommend this place. Logistics and Hidden Costs: Our flight arrived at 1 p.m., which meant that the car and Amazon River boat transfer were not included. We had to pay an additional $200+. The hotel insisted this fee goes directly to the local workers, but when we spoke to the staff, they mentioned they do not receive any extra benefits or additional compensation from the company. This felt dishonest. Facilities and Safety: While I understand the "eco-lodge" concept, the structural condition of the lodge is very poor. The "walls" are made of mosquito netting, but they were not properly sealed, leaving large gaps where animals could easily enter. Furthermore, since there is no electricity and the lodge only provides power for one hour a day, you cannot even rely on your phone’s flashlight. Surprisingly, they do not provide flashlights to guide guests from the main area to the rooms at night, which felt unsafe. Dining and Tours: The breakfast options were very basic, and while lunch and dinner were slightly better, there was very little variety. The tours were just "okay"—nothing special that I would recommend. Final Verdict: The only positive aspect of this place is the staff. They are humble, hardworking people living in clear poverty, and they are the only reason I am not giving this a lower rating. However, regarding the value for money, this stay was absolutely not worth $1,000. I would not return, and I cannot recommend this lodge to others.
