This is an amazing place - so tranquil, we just wish had stayed for a few more days. The owner's welcome was super and we even ventured out to see the gloworms at nightfall with her.

Beatiful location (not too close to other towns to go for a coffee or lunch, etc)- Closest town is Kumara- Just over 20 min away, gravel road mainly- Spacious, confortable and tidy room. Nice shower pressure.
Because of the remote location we made sure the lodge had a restaurant before booking,unfortunately they were not seving lunch the day we arrived - Different reasons given: a. Not doing lunch at the restaurant but they would be doing it during the weekend. b. Short of staff and cook was making the rooms.
Dinner menu was very limited, choice of only 4 mains which did not changed at all in all 3 nights we stayed at the hotel.
Check in was non-existent, only shown to the room and that was it! No mention of the places of interest around the lodge, no information about the facilities or anything at all. ( no information in the room either). Hosts seem to be the housekeepers, cooks, waiters and everything else in between, which seems to cause the customer service to not be that great.
No coffee or tea facilities in the room and not sure if you could get a coffee or tea in the afternoon at the bar as every time I went there was noone to be seen around.
Noisy rooms when you have neighbours next door.
Hosts were nice but seem to be tackling too much.
