Lovely little surf house right by the beach, not too busy but always someone around to hang out with. The place was such a positive surprise especially considering the reasonable price. Camille and his family are lovely hosts and do their best to make your stay the best it can be. Well equipped kitchen, terrace overlooking the breaks and a private room what more can you ask for? Highly recommended.
Everything was great.

The location was great. Right on the beach. Very relaxing spot on the edge of town with a great rooftop for watching the surf
Camille and the family made us feel very welcome!

Very nice little hotel, located at only a few meters from the beach in this wonderfull beach town El Transito. Very nice french owner who will help you with tips and tricks about the region.
Not only for surfers but for anybody who likes a tranquilo place to stay at the pacific ocean!

We really enjoyed our stay at Bananoz. Camillo, Mel and the family were very welcoming and gave it a homely vibe. Being on the road for a couple of months, it made us feel right at home. Super close to the beach with ocean views from the kitchen and the upstairs chill spot. Pistols surf spot right out front and El transito main beach less than 10 min walk away.

We had a great experience at Bananoz.
The communication with the owner (Camilo) was super easy and he was super accomodating with us and really made us feel home. The place right at the beach is peaceful, the rooftop have ocean views where you can chill on the hammocks and simply soak in the nature. The kitchen was awesome too and all the basic supplies were easy to get at the shop nearby. Our stay was so awesome that we asked to extend for a few extra days and are looking forward to come back :) Thanks Bananoz family! We’ll miss you!

The owners of the property were so welcoming and helpful. Myself and my partner both felt so at home. The location was amazing such a short walk to the beach. The room was very spacious with a lovely bathroom. All of the facilities were in great order. The kitchen was huge and it has everything you need plus great free coffee in the morning.
I liked everything about this stay there were no negatives. I have recommended many travelling friends to come and visit. If you are coming to stay definitely go grocery shopping before as it is a very small town.

very chill vibe, met great people, could see both surf spots from the terrace and the dog was so lovable :)
+ Camilo and the team were super friendly and of great help !
our room was a bit hot even with fans but it was manageable + it was super hot outside too :)

The surf house is beautiful and less than 50m from the beach, you couldn’t ask for a better location and it has a very chilled out vibe. Camillo and his family are lovely and he is one of the most genuine people I’ve met, he couldn’t do more to help you out! The surf house is very clean and well maintained and the kitchen has a beautiful view of the ocean, if you’re a surfer you can’t beat watching the waves while you have your morning coffee. There’s also a small shop just round the corner about 2 minutes walk away. The roof area was my favourite for watching the waves and chilling out in a hammock after a surf. I loved my stay so much I ended up extending for a month! and I’ll definitely be returning in the future for some of Camillo’s coffee and crepes!
Nothing.

Quiet, clean, kitchen, terrace, good beds. No dogs barking in the night and no chickens around that keep you awake.
It is allowed to smoke everywhere.

Everything (one of the best places I’ve ever stayed)
The owner is a very nice, friendly and a genuine person who makes amazing crepes. Also very honest which is rare to find these days.
The location is in a quiet and relaxing area of the beach but still only a ten minute walk down the beach to the busier area.
There is surf right in front of the hotel if you want to surf, they also have a pool table and a lovely top deck to look out at the waves.
Kitchen area to cook if you want with everything you could need.

Such a cool place right in front of the better/ less crowded surf break, social but chilled vibe, good clean facilities like kitchen, awsome view from the terrace and even fisherman selling fish out front in the mornings. And really cool, relaxed french couple running it. Great surprise given the price, best value you find in transit the photos don't do justice.

Everything was perfect! The french hosts Camillo and Maëlle and their kids were really, really nice people. They made us feel like home. The place is beautiful and relaxed, the rooms are very clean and comfortable. You can buy fresh fish from the fishermen right in front of the Hostel every morning and then give it to Donaldo who makes perfect filet out of it for little money! Theres a (very) small store right around the corner, where you can ger eggs, beer and some more. The kitchen is very well equipped, has a mixer, an oven and a shiny new coffe machine ;-)
Thanks Camillo and Maëlle! See you next time :-)
Nothing to complain!

My stay in El transito at Bananoz was all I needed! Really chill place with nice terrasse upstairs, perfect spot to watch the waves, eat your breakfast, take a nap or have a sunset beer! Camilo and his family were super welcoming, helpful and made me feel at home. The surf house is at the end of the beach, so it is really quiet at night and even during the day. I loved my stay at Bananoz, loved the beach, loved the surf, will definitely come back if I return to Nicaragua!
I rented a surfboard at oso cafe for 2 weeks, they had the best price in town I think and they were really accommodating! They also have a few different boards so you can try a few to see what you like the best.

Grate place, with grate location:) the atmosphere were good, relaxed personal and host. Bananoz had pool table, good hammocks and a balcony that gave us the perfect overview of El Transitio. I would recommend this place.

The place is fantastic! Camillo and his family are so kind, helpful and just so much fun to be around! The place is close to the beach with great surfing and some food places. Everything you need/desire for a good surftrip, incredible value for money. Also, the area is perfectly safe, we felt very comfortable. We are coming back! (maybe even on this same trip because we loved it so much)
There is not one negative thing I can think off about this place, highly reocmmend.

amazing location with a stunning quiet beach right on the doorstep which you can see from the kitchen!! kitchen is also great and well equipped. Great value for money in this small beach town. Run by the most lovely French family who are so helpful and welcoming, who go out of their way to make sure you have a good stay.

Great place to stay while surfing El transito!

Super spacious, high ceiling rooms, clean and comfortable. It's located in the quieter end of town, which we loved - a short 10min walk to the main area. Amazing terrace and a fully equipped kitchen. The hosts are a wonderful family, super accommodating and friendly. They can organize a very affordable laundry service as well. Coffee in the morning was awesome. Really a great place to stay in El Transito!
You share the space with the family as it is also their home, which is totally fine, however, it sometimes feels like your intruding on their space. There are kids running around using the common areas and waking up early. The family is wonderful but after a long day of surfing we'd prefer to have a quiet and private space to relax.

This is a really welcoming and homey place to stay run by a very sweet family who are there some weekends. The room was good and the kitchen is really nice to have. The surf is right there and the vibe of the people is friendly. Nice hammocks all around. If there had been availability I would have stayed longer for sure
Water pressure is not great on the shower and a mosquito racket would be a great thing to have

I had a very pleasant stay at this french family runned homestay, for 20$ I got a very spacious room with private bathroom, it had 2 beds, one was queen size, so is enough for 3 people! Very good deal!
The place is just in front of the beach, gotta walk a bit as it's on the far right end of it, but it has a surf spot where I haven't seen anyone surfing in 2 days, it's very secluded, it felt like home! A special place I will bee back to visit during my stay in Nicaragua. Sometimes, while traveling, I find accomodations for backpackers just runned to make money, this place is different, I felt like at home, I also met a couple guys staying there for some months working remotely, it's the perfect place for that! Quite, good value, has a kitchen, it's by the beach, go check it out you'll be glad you did :) oh waves at the main beach break in El Transito are fun! Very few surfers out, can barrel at low tide, long rights and lefts! The beach is stunning! Pitch-black glittering volcanic sand, I think the prettiest I saw around the world. Sleepy fishing village of few hundreds, buy fresh catch fish in the morning from boats coming back to the beach. Horse-riding would be another interesting thing to try out during a stay there, they can organize that also.

The owner is very nice and helpful. The kitchen and in general it's very clean. The location is a bit away from the main beach (10 min) but it's a very beautiful there. The Rockformation is spectacular at the beach.
Nothing they could change. Everything I did not like is not in their Hands

Nice kitchen, small but great terrace, spacious room (but very hot in the summer period, even though there are 2 fans) for a very reasonable price and such a nice owner family! Beautiful beach just 10m away. Thx Camille for spreading such kind, happy, friendly vibes all the time!
For me as a beginner till intermediate surfer, there was not really surfing, but I guess I was just unlucky with my timing.

Great vibe, super helpful and accommodating hosts, well equipped kitchen. I think it's been the best value for money I've had on this trip so far. Honest prices, it's not about making money but offering travellers affordable accommodation. Highly recommend.
8.0
Nice, big communal kitchen. Only 3-4 rooms total so it's very chill and quiet.
Bring groceries if you can! The shops in el transito are very poorly stocked and there aren't many restaurants (seems like there used to be more but they closed down).
The whole place gets super hot. The rooms don't get any breeze from the sea and the fans are too weak to cool you down (just regular standing fans, no ceiling fan).
No board rental even though it's a surf hostel.
El transito in general has a bit of a ghost town vibe.

I liked the view and the family. Very easy to be around you get the vibe of being home 🏠 but with much more to see, taste and feel. Fish lands every morning 🌅 go grab a fresh fish 🐟 then top it all with a surf session. The surf is so close. Go to bed in the comfortable beds of bananoz. Wake up and get coffee with ocean view. Don't think twice.
