I was trully surprised when I've arrived to Prora. I thought I will find partly destroyed historical landmark and I saw huge complex with different hotels, restaurants and recreational spaces.
Upon arrival by car you need to pass the first barrier - parking will cost you 20 Euro, but it is directly in front of the hotel.
The room was spacious, clean, modern, with fantastic shower and well-equiped kitchen.
Fantastic, calm stay by the Baltic sea

Location: it's on the island and physically distant from any other spot in Germany. I had literally go 150km off my trip just to get there.

We liked the location in famous Prora building, the size of our suite, the balcony, view of the sea (blocked by trees -> this is common to all of Prora complex) and complimentary drinks in the fridge.
Calling this a hotel is a stretch -> there is one central reception where you check-in and have breakfast. To reach your room, you have to go outside to appropriate building. Rooms were obviously originally designed as private apartments as each of them has a ring-bell and a post box. Room can be difficult to find as they are very poorly marked with small number above bell-switch at waist-level. There is no scheduled cleaning service if I remember correctly.
Glasses and cutlery in the kitchen were dirty -> probably some previous customer did not clean them properly and room service did not check for this.
There was no corner shower, only a bath, with no separating glass or curtain + no holder for the shower head on the wall, so we ended up spraying water all over the bathroom. Obviously we were not the first, since paint was coming off the wall all around the bath and mold was starting to form, since tiles only went up half-way.
Parking was paid and you got assigned parking spot number after check-in, forcing you to return to the garage and change spot, despite half of the garage being empty.
We were also not impressed by wellness (pool) that we paid extra (price 10e pp was OK) -> while the pool itself was ok, it lacked any atmosphere + anyone using the gym was looking you straight in the eye.
