This is an unaltered medieval palazzo in the heart of the town. The room I had was very large and well equipped. The staff appeared a little disorganised by today's standards, but seemed to be all locals, and were very helpful. Breakfast was started slightly late, which lead to it being a bit made up as we went along, but that was no bother, and all part of the charm. As I left the hotel, the chef was on hand to guide my car out of the very narrow town streets!
My SatNav. could have been better. To get to the hotel I had to drive through a gap of 2m wide between two stone walls. Android Auto should have stopped the route at a parking space before that point!

Our stay at this hotel was different. The only person we saw was Antonio who seemed to take of everything. The restaurant was closed and there is no reception to ask questions. The hotel is very pretty and there are lovely decks to sit. Antonio was wonderful, helped park car, Provided breakfast , and provided a smile.
There seemed to be no management present at all, like a ghost town.

Beautiful old building in the heart of Gerace. Shared balcony with stunning views (when the fog lifted!), which was rarely used by anyone else. Very large and comfy bed. Antonio and his daughter made us very welcome despite very little common language. Wide range of breakfast options, including gluten- and dairy-free. Reserved space for car just in front of hotel (needed, as streets are medievally narrow).
No bath, despite upgrading to quadruple room to get one, and room was under eaves, so limited views (but large balcony just next door).

Breakfast was excellent, and the staff was exceptional. Very friendly and flexible. The last day we had to leave hotel very early and the man serving us breakfast came that day very early just to give us breakfast.
It could not have been better! the view is great and the palazzo ic beautiful,. Great experience.

From the moment you arrive, you are dropped in the heart of a Medieval Village, cobble stone pathways, peace an quite , not for all....... I couldnt get better croissants in any other country,

The owner communicated EXCEPTIONALLY WELL with us through WhatsApp to arrange drivers, reservations etc. This was very helpful as we don't speak italian. The outdoor patio area overlooking the village & the sea was an added bonus. The people of Gerace are extremely friendly. Of note - Having a car in this town would have allowed us to explore the area more & a lot is closed in October when we there.

central location in the old town,very good restaurant in the building.Gerace is well worth a visit hill town at 500 metres with great views
Attentative staff with very limited English.Mishap with ordering a taxi for the next morning from Licori 15 kms away that arrived that evening. I guess as visitors in a foreign country the issue is with the tourist .

The vilage is very nice
The location is very difficult to arrive, the lady Just wanted to give us the key and go away, too Many stepd. No view exept from an unprivate terrace

Beautiful palazzo, very friendly staff, great breakfast and the food in the restaurant is delicious. Gerace is a beautiful little historical town with a very nice authentic atmosphere.
Highly recommended.
And thanks for the upgrade to a bigger room.

The breakfast was ample and a lot of variety. It was in the middle of the town & we found a free parking place not too far away.
It was a bit confusing to find. I had booked a quadruple and a triple. We got a quadruple and a double and I wasn't sure if the bill was adjusted as it was already paid. He looked it up and kept insisting everything was ok but there was a language barrier so I wasn't really sure. My Italian is pretty basic.

Manager was helpful in parking our car.
Difficulty finding that location. Had to carry suitcases up several flights of stairs. Very little English spoken. Breakfast was typical...nothing special. Bathroom very small with no shelves.

Gerace was unexpected and amazing. The Palazza Candida is truly an amazing place to stay. Our balcony, which was shared with all our family and friends had amazing views. It's good to know some Italian when traveling to places in Calabria.
We had rental cars and the streets to Palazza Candida are extremely narrow and a bit difficult to navigate with a 4-door car which was unexpected. But we managed and parking was about a block from the hotel.
