A very special place!

We had an amazing stay at Turtle Watch Cabana!!! This was the best place that we've had in Sri Lanka. The family was so wonderful, and their boy was a perfect little tour guide! He played with our boy, showed us a lot of places, fruits, and was just lovely. The location is perfect, very near the beach and the owner is a perfect person to show you the turtles. That was an extraordinary experience for us. They also showed us a rock pool where we could swim as the waves were pretty big. Food was amazing too and we ate there all the time! We cannot recommend this place highly enough! 10 stars!

Beautiful stay & wonderful hosts!

Asanka our host and his family were lovely, so welcoming and obliging. The cabana was beautiful, set in their garden - very peaceful, clean and roomy. Asanka works for Turtle Watch and kindly took us out to the beach on our first night. An absolutely amazing experience! We saw several turtles, witnessed egg laying, hatchlings - just incredible! The Turtle Watch officers are all very knowledgeable and the work they do so incredible. We visited during the low season so everywhere was very quiet - during the day visiting Rekawa beach (which is stunning) we barely saw anyone. We had breakfast and dinner at the cabana both days of our stay and it was absolutely delicious! Brinjal curry is one of my favourites and it was definitely the best I have ever tasted (the large array of other curries were also wonderful!). We went into Tangalle for a wander one day and Asanka kindly dropped us off in his tuk tuk and similarly transported us on a trip to Kalametiya Bird Sanctuary. I really can't recommend Turtle Watch Cabana enough!

Superb

location close to the see ant turtle watch. Very tasty breakfast, wifi working very well. very nice owners :)

this area is quite abandoned, but its not a problem of the owners.

Good

Nice property in a quiet and secluded spot where you can get close to nature. The cabana was comfy and clean when we checked in. The beach is within walking distance. The food we had here was very good, we had local breakfast and some seafood for dinner which was both very tasty.

Not much of a warm welcome when we arrived compared to other places we've stayed in Sri Lanka, there was a lack of communication and we weren't given any information on check in on the turtle watching or the food provided by the property which would have been helpful.

turtle expectations fully fulfilled

everything was perfect ! location is amazing, close to the beach. breakfast was a feast and delicious. owners are kind and caring people. Asanka gives you his time and share his knowledge and expertise about the turtles. he managed to take us to a turtle hatching her eggs within minutes of receiving a phone call from sanctuary staff. the cabana is great, spacious, comfortable and beautifully decorated, in a quiet and peaceful garden.

Jungle paradise, peace and relaxation.

We loved the uniqueness of the property. Family feel and homemade cabanas are very special. We especially loved the outdoor shower and big comfy bed. The property is very close to the most beautiful beach we have seen in Sri Lanka, true paradise. The family who own this property are very friendly, kind and accommodating. They cooked delicious breakfasts and dinners for us, nothing can beat homemade meals. Cabanas are good for both couples and also families. Definitely 100% recommend.

If you want the quiet place with nice people this is place just for you.

We are spending here our the best moments on the Sri Lanka with Asanka and his amazing wife/kids dogs Rabi&Lula. They take us to the festival of dance with elephants and also for the turtles(release to ocean and eggs nesting). And we ask them also for the dinner (because the city is nearby (3 km) and local restaurants was closed (it was not expensive) Because we are was out of season) so they prepare all these amazing food for us what was no. 1 in our trip, They love spicy :) . if we come back to Sri Lanka we will back here. Also will recommend to all our friends. Thank you so much for amazing experience, you are the best. 10/10

Really nice family. Host also works with turtle foundation who care for the turtles and showed us turtles on the beach in the evening. The cabana was really nice and has A/C.

The bumpy road Google told us to go to get to the property. The better road did not show on Google. No complaints about the property itself.

The best place in Sri Lanka. We left here sadly, but I hope to come back here again. The building itself and the place are beautiful and I have no complaints. Most importantly, the atmosphere of this place is built by an amazing and wonderful family. Cabana owners are extremely nice and made us feel at home. In addition to accommodation, I recommend delicious breakfasts, dinners and juices. Seriously, I could live! ♥ ️ps. In the evening we went for walks with the owner of the Cabana to find fish and drinks - mega!

Best stay in Sri Lanka! Beautiful and very clean cabana, delicious local breakfests. Best kottu we ate during whole trip. AC works very well. Hosts are great people. With the host you can go to night turtle watching on the neighboring beach. I highly recommend!

Highly recommended!

First of all, the Tangalle beach which is approximately 2 min away is amazing. Empty and beautiful. There are also two small beaches nearby with some beach bars if you prefer to. The bungalow is very spacious, you have AC and a clean bathroom. The wifi is working fine as well. The family that is running the business made everything to help us. If you want to see the turtles at night - just ask the host and if the conditions will be good, he will take you for the beach walk.

It is far away from the main route where you can find shops. The family is running a small restaurant so you won't die from hunger but it is better to prepare some supplies before arriving.

Best stay in Sri Lanka

The best stay we had in Sri Lanka! Very friendly family and it’s really close to Rekawa Beach. Our house was amazing: clean, comfortable bed, air conditioning, great bathroom and delicious breakfast. If you are not sure about staying here, don’t be anymore and book here more than one night. It was pleasure to stay there and we will be back for sure. Thank you!

Very friendly staff, very good breakfast and dinner. Lot's of info on turtles, crabs and nature. Possibility to watch turtles laying eggs on the beach. Very helpful staff -> showed us safe place to swim for children. I encourage to stay here a bit longer than just one night as to be able to feel the nice atmosphere of the place -> it's amazing in the evening and children have lot's of fun during the day.

Wonderful Homestay, 5 min walk to the Rock pool

Asanka and his wife are wonderful hosts. I'm traveling by bus so he picked me up and dropped me at the station. The cabanas are wonderful, very comfy and clean. I loved the Sri Lankan breakfast and dinner was delicious, too! He also arranged a very relaxing massage for me. So I would definitely come back! One oft the nicest Homestay I've been while I was traveling Sri Lanka.

We've enjoyed our stay at Turtle Watch Cabana very much. It's situated in a lovely, laid back village with several natural beaches in walking proximity and lots of oportunities to watch animals. We loved staying off the beaten track and exploring the village and the local beaches with our kids. The family made us feel very welcome and helped us organizing our safari. Breakfast and dinner was delicious. Thank you for everything.

Superb

Laid back and secluded location, well away from hustle and bustle (the trade off however is that you are quite far from any major shops). The property is a short walk to the beautiful and almost deserted beaches, and the small beachside seafood restaurants located along the water. As described, the cabanas are fairly basic but contain everything you need. Breakfast was flavoursome and the host pleasant and helpful. Overall, a good place to unwind for a couple of days.
