We spent 24 days at the Swagat homestay during our internship in Kathmandu.
Living with this family was a wonderful experience for us, one we’d recommend to anyone.
We learned a lot about life in Nepal, and the homestay experience made us feel even more like we’d truly found our place.
Roshani and Sugat are wonderful hosts!
Roshani treated us with a delicious breakfast every day, and we always looked forward to having time to chat with her.
She took us to visit her family, which allowed us to get an even closer look at the daily lives of the people there.
Sugat has great recommendations for things to do and is very helpful with organizing them.
The accommodation is super quiet, away from the hustle and bustle of Thamel. There are restaurants, cafés, and shopping options just around the corner.
If you do want to go to Thamel, it takes about 5–10 minutes by taxi for about 1–2€.
The rooms are clean, the bed is extremely comfortable, and the bathroom is top-notch.
All in all, it was a great experience, and if you’d like to get to know Kathmandu away from the tourist crowds, this is the perfect place for you.

Very homey that I really did feel like im home away from home. The place is very clean, the comforter was definitely comforting. the owner was very accommodating and helped us even during wee hours.
The location may be a little hard to find for some especially if you’re arriving at darker hours and the streets are a little too narrow. But the owner will give you instruction and you can ask the cab driver to talk to the owner too for the location.

Breakfast at Swagat Homestay was excellent,fresh, delicious, and made even more enjoyable by the host, whose engaging stories about Kathmandu kept us captivated.
The location is very convenient, close to the airport, with easy access to transportation. Many temples and restaurants are within walking distance, making it simple to explore and get around the city.
There was nothing to dislike, we truly felt right at home throughout our stay.
