I stayed here for 5 nights in October and it is one of the best VRBOs I have ever stayed at. The apartment is spacious, immaculate and you can really stretch out and feel like you are living in Old Town Bern. The location is centrally located and spectacular. It's an easy 10 minute walk from the main train station. You are in the heart of Old Town and the church bells ringing are enchanting. Plus the farmers' market on Saturday was out front on the street and stretched for several blocks. Such fun!
Rob and Sara are incredibly responsive to any questions. I think the longest it took to hear back from them was about 4 minutes once. They provide very clear instructions on how things work in the apartment.
The kitchen is nicely stocked with some basic ingredients, like spices and oils and vinegar, etc which is a real plus if you want to do any cooking. And the coffee machine makes the perfect espresso!
The set up of the apartment is different than North American style as the kitchen and bathroom are across the central staircase. At first I thought this would be awkward and that I might run into another guest but that doesn't happen because the other guests are on a different floor. You might hear them below you in the hallway but you don't see them. Honestly the set up is a big nothing burger.
I would definitely stay here again if I am back to Bern and I will certainly recommend it to any friends who are travelling there.

This was the best VRBO we stayed in during our three weeks in Europe! It's absolutely stunning! Rob and Sara have put a lot of time and thought into making this a very comfortable and homey apartment while maintaining the feel of "old style" Europe. The kitchen has everything you need if you want to cook in--lots of dishes, silverware, pans, spices, a few staples, and even a dishwasher. There's a great coffee machine with complete instructions. The bed is very comfortable and there's plenty of closets and drawers.
We like that it was right in the heart of Old Town, so we did a lot of walking and exploring Berne. On Saturday, there was a market in the street right below our windows so we felt just like a local when we wandered through it.
When I say that Rob and Sara have thought of everything, I mean they truly have! They are also great communicators if you need anything.
I would highly recommend their place and we will stay there again someday.

My wife and I had a wonderful immersion in Bern and the Aare River region as we based out of this centrally located and comfortably furnished historical apartment. We had easy access to the train station and local trams for daily excursions. Multiple restaurants, shops and museums were near by. The owners of the apartment were most welcoming and helpful.

Location, Apartment, Hosts...Perfect
This apartment is perfectly located within the old town, close to historical and other attractions. Restaurants, cafes and shops, you’ll want for nothing, yet peaceful at night. Only a short stroll from the Hauptbahnhof. Comfortable bed, warm and very clean. The kitchen has everything you need if you wish to be self sufficient. Rob and Sara are wonderful hosts, from the initial communication right through our stay, they were there to answer questions and offer advice if you ask. Although the apartment is modern in furnishings and comfort, the bones are old (especially by Australian standards) and I felt it a privilege to stay in a place so full of character and history. Would definitely recommend this stay.

Wonderful experience!
Rob and Sara are fantastic! Property is very clean and centrally located in Old Town Bern. It slept our family of four very comfortably. Everything we needed was in the unit or Rob had to us in no time. I would definitely recommend this rental, as well as stay there again if we return to Switzerland.

Perfect location
The layout is unusual but as described, most everything you need except maybe a microwave. We enjoyed the bells, the street market, being within easy walking distance of the old city and the station. The free tram and bus pass a bonus.

Great family apartment
We have stayed at a number of VRBO rentals around the world and this was one of our favourites. Great location to the train, tram, grocery shopping and restaurants. Tons of things to do in Bern (Rose Garden, Gurten Park, Beak Park, Einstein Museum, Zytglogge, and of course the Aare River swim) and a quick train ride to other cities (Lucerne). Rob and Sara are excellent VRBO hosts and offered up great suggestions.

Absolutely wonderful!
The apartment was in a wonderful location and the hosts were absolutely delightful! We were a family of 4 and never felt cramped even with only one bedroom. Bern is a very walk-able city and the apartment was centrally located. I'd recommend the Parliament tour, Bear Park, Rose Garden, Einstein apartment, and Oberhafen Castle on Lake Thun along with walking all around Old Town. Make sure you walk the entire Marktgasse and check out all the colorful fountains. We would definitely stay at this apartment again!

Highly recommend This apartment. The hosts were amazing and made our stay extremely comfortable with everything at your disposal. You'd be mad not to stay here. It's centrally located, included a holidays travel voucher so transport was free and had a great kitchen facilities for cooking. I'm an allergy suffer and it was the first place in our travels that I wasn't affected. It was clear that the owners take great pride in keeping everything clean and respectable. Thank you from the bottom of our heart for our family stay in Bern. Truly brilliant!

Convenient, Comfortable, and Charming Apartment
We stayed in a lovely apartment in the old city of Bern that could not have been more charming. It had a very old world feel since the building is 333 years old, yet it had all of the modern conveniences. The bedroom even had a painted ceiling from the renaissance era. The entire apartment was a step back in time in terms of appearance, but all aspects of it were well-restored and maintained. It is bigger than the photos suggest, and there is plenty of storage space as well for clothes and luggage.
It was also very conveniently located. We walked every where in Bern, and during our stay we took the train to other towns 4 times, and the train station is only a 10-minute walk away. In fact in one case, we took a train to a mountain town for lunch for dinner by a beautiful mountain lake and then hopped on the train again to go to another town for dinner and then back to Bern. Bern is an excellent hub for direct trains to many of the sites in Switzerland. On a couple of occasions we used the local buses, with passes our hosts provided as part of our rental, and that was great. The system was easy to use, and our hosts provided good guidance.
The tour inside the old clock tower, which is only minutes away from the apartment is not to be missed. Plus we enjoyed a walking tour of Bern, which provided some excellent historical information. All the restaurants we attended, most of which were on the recommended list in the apartment, served very good food. Whether we ate outside or inside, the atmosphere was always pleasant.
Our hosts were most gracious and provided a very warm welcome and checked in on us to ensure all was OK. They could not have been more pleasant or helpful.
To get to your private bath and very modern and well-equipped kitchen, you cross a landing between the circular staircase flights. You cannot see up or down, so if feels private, and this walkway added charm to our experience because it reflected the traditional architectural design of the past. So do not let that feature deter you.
We give our hosts and their apartment our highest recommendation.

Wonderful welcoming week
We found this apartment to be exactly what we wanted - clean, comfortable and central to not only the old town of Bern itself, but also to the many exceptional delights further afield. Our stay was made even more meaningful and enjoyable by the friendly welcome and information provided by the hosts. It really was like staying with friends. And before we arrived, all email communication was quick, accurate and efficient. It would certainly be our number 1 choice if we were lucky enough to be able to visit Switzerland again.

Spacious Apartment in The Old Town of Bern
This historic apartment modernised with new kitchen and bathroom, situated in the centre of the old town is ideal for couples or a family. It's location is perfect for accessing shopping areas, nearby transport connections,including the main railway stations, museums and Kultur Casino. Appliances and equipment meet tourist needs and nearby excellent supermarkets make self catering a good choice. Numerous and varied restaurants are close by. TIP...should you arrive on a Sunday supermarkets will be closed but 2 smaller ones at the main railway station will be open .

Great Location in Bern
This apartment is such a charming place that fits in with Berne's period architecture. My husband and I stayed there with our 2 (adult) daughters. We all loved it! Location is in central Bern and close to everything. We walked everywhere. Rob and Sara are great hosts. Rob greeted us when we arrived and gave us invaluable tips on the city and sites. We would definitely stay here again.

A great place to stay in Bern!
Rob & Sara's character apartment in Bern was perfect for us - plenty of room for our family of 5 and in a really nice part of the old city. The place was clean and well maintained and Rob was invaluable in providing tips on where to go in the city for supermarkets, the free bikes and the local attractions. It only takes 10-15 minutes to walk to the main train station so it was easy for us to do day trips as well. Highly recommended!
