I initially discounted Karras Grande because of some of the mixed reviews, but when a special offer came up I took a closer look. I realised many of the negative comments weren’t about the things that matter most to me, so we decided to take a chance — and I’m glad we did.
My priorities are cleanliness, friendly service and a good location, and Karras Grande ticked all three. The hotel was very clean, the staff were friendly and efficient, and the location was excellent for the main strip, bars and restaurants. It was busy but never felt overcrowded.
We stayed in a suite in the newer, modern block. The room was spacious, modern and very clean, and we were really happy with it.
Overall, a great stay and definitely better than I expected from some of the reviews.
Breakfast finishes at 10am, which was a little early for us on holiday, so despite booking B&B we never actually made it!
Getting luggage to and from our room was also a bit of a hassle. There is a lift, but you still have to go up a few stairs to reach it, which isn’t ideal with suitcases.

Good location, nice building and very nice room - I think it was superior one, in the last building , near kids pool.
Clean room, nice ladies at cleaning and also nice people at reception.
Iron and iron table in the room.
Breakfast is not fine at all, exactly the same food every day and it does not look good either.
No fresh juice. Food seems not fresh in general!
The sweets are reused from the previous day.
Plates and glasses are old and very used.

Breakfast Pretty much as expected. Not great but equally not poor - average . Pancakes, omelette and eggs freshly cooked to order was good. Fresh grapefruit was great for us and fruit available. same every day which is standard. Lots of variety hot and cold available so really about what we expected but clearly catering on mass as cheaply as possible which I understand at this price point. Some fresh juice and better coffee would make a big difference IMO. Certainly not as grand as name suggests.
Superior room great…lovely, clean, modern, quiet….apart from an earthquake at 6am! Better than many hotel rooms we’ve used.
Pools good….large enough for lane swim and clean. Entertainment with volleyball net effectively closes the pool for an hour if as in our case no one wanted to play…some flexibility needed
Good location. Short walks to 2 beaches and approx 1mile possible on seafront between beaches and along Tsilivi beach. Longer walks involve using roads…no footpaths. Not ideal…eg walking to Zante town.
Staff perfectly friendly and no issues.
Car parking at front and rear safely off road….essential in Greece. Good.
No fresh fruit juice…cordial type
Coffee wasn’t great IMO….personal taste accepted
No fresh pastries…all bulk small variety
Sometimes not enough tables for capacity….especially after rain when outdoor area closed for slip hazard
Ran out of cups/ saucers etc at times.
Only ate in evening once as b&b stay. Poor on this occasion… but the whole room was flooded to be fair as unusually heavy rain. Loads of reasonable local places to eat traditional Greek food.
Gym terrible…multi gym broken and unusable. Free weights dumbells only and lightest 8kg so not great for women. No water dispenser. Smoke small from staff rooms.
Get a hire car….the island as a whole is stunning once you leave the most developed areas….as with many places
Overall Greek feel…ie general underinvestment, lots of litter, potholes, crumbling infrastructure etc. Even in remote idyllic places there is lots of litter and a general sense of being unloved/cared for.
Needs a bit of attention to detail to live up to its grand name.
