Hotel Arcantis Le Voltaire

Need to remember that this is a cheap hotel, so you get what you pay for. It was clean, it was basic, the rooms were really small but functional and the staff were fine. Security for motorcycles was reasonable. Bit out of town; 39min walk or 10euros on uber.

Too far from town and rooms were too small. Bar wasn’t open in the evening at 9pm

The hotel is like a motorway motel and has everything you need. The food was good, the room was recently refurbished and the bed was comfortable. The carpark is huge and even has some chargers. Easy walk into town.

The breakfast was strictly continental which mightn't suit if you planned a long trip that day. For us it was perfect as we only planned shorter trips. The outside could do with a coat of paint but don't let that put you off.

We stayed for 2 nights and found this to be a quirky, charming hotel in a quiet neighbourhood. The city centre is easily reached by metro or bus, or you can enjoy a pleasant 25-minute walk along the river. We received a very warm welcome on arrival. The retro-style décor adds character and charm to the hotel. Our room was compact but perfectly adequate for our needs. The bed was comfortable, the shower was excellent, and despite the compact bathroom, everything was well designed. The entire hotel was spotlessly clean. A major bonus is the plentiful free parking, which is not always easy to find in a city location. Overall, this hotel offers excellent value for money for a city break. I would happily recommend it to anyone visiting Rennes or stopping over on the way to St Malo for a ferry crossing.

Nothing to dislike

Location was good.

Room too small for three people. Could hardly fit three suitcases. Top floor so too hot in the very hot weather. No A/C. Breakfast adequate.
