* Great location — very convenient and well situated.
* Overall, a lovely building with a nice feel.
* Good breakfast — enjoyable and with a good selection.
* Staff were quite nice and friendly.
* The hotel felt very dated, with old-fashioned décor throughout.
* The carpet in the hallway was old and bumpy in places, you could actually trip over it.
* The lighting in the rooms was terrible. It was too bright and not at all atmospheric.
* The bathroom lighting was particularly harsh. If you used the bathroom during the night, the bright light would completely wake you and the children up.
* They should consider using something like Philips Hue or other adjustable, dimmable lighting in the bathrooms and bedrooms, so the light can be softer at night and more atmospheric.
* The light bulbs also seemed unnecessarily high-powered.
* The mattress wasn’t particularly comfortable.
* I was told I would have a park view, but the view was essentially just a view of a car park.
* When I asked about changing rooms, I was told it would cost an additional £1,000 to move to a room on the other side of the hotel with some kind of sea view.
* I didn’t feel it was reasonable to pay another £1,000 for a similar, dated room just to get a better view.
