What we liked
The exceptionally warm and welcoming hospitality from Hazel, Eliana, Verana and Marie-Therese.
Being welcomed late at night by Hazel after our delayed flight.
The personal attention, including being shown around and having breakfast prepared for us.
The kindness and flexibility of allowing us to keep our room on departure day because of our late flight.
The authentic, rustic and shabby-chic character of the B&B.
The quirky, individual feel of the property, with each room having its own character and theme.
The relaxed, peaceful and almost zen-like atmosphere.
The fact that it felt distinctive and personal rather than like a conventional, standardised hotel.
Overall, we enjoyed the pleasant and memorable experience and particularly appreciated the people who looked after us.
What we didn't like
The lack of a wardrobe or proper clothes storage, despite this being mentioned in the Sienna room description, meant we had to live out of our suitcases.
The air-conditioning unit leaked and soaked some of our clothes when we were offered hangers underneath it.
The many steps, different levels, spiral staircases and external stairs were difficult to negotiate and would be particularly challenging for older or less mobile guests.
Some areas, including the courtyard plunge pools and certain stairways, lacked handrails where we felt they were needed.
My wife was unable to use the room spa because getting into it involved awkward steps without a handrail.
We felt the layout and open-access courtyard plunge-pool areas would require parents to supervise young children very closely.
Better handrails and clearer signage would make the property easier and safer to navigate without losing its quirky character.

We had a fantastic two-night stay at Chapel 5 last week while attending a wedding and only wish we’d stayed longer.
We stayed in the Le Noir Suite, which was incredible. The room is full of character and you can tell how much thought has gone into every detail. From the decor and furnishings to the smaller touches throughout, as well as the in room hot tub - it feels incredibly individual rather than like a standard hotel room, and the private terrace was a lovely place to relax in the sunshine too. The whole property has that same feeling, with lots of interesting little spaces, beautiful old features and carefully chosen decor around every corner.
What really made the stay though, was Verena and the staff. They were so warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived and genuinely couldn’t have been more accommodating. They were always happy to help, whether it was answering any questions on Malta, giving recommendations or just making sure everything was right during our stay. It felt much more personal than a typical hotel experience, and you could tell she really cared about her guests enjoying themselves.
There are also two outdoor pools, an indoor pool, and a sauna to choose from and a lovely rooftop terrace with plenty of space for sunbathing and relaxing. Breakfast was great too, with plenty of choice and a really nice, relaxed atmosphere.
The location in the heart of Naxxar is another big plus, with restaurants and bars within easy walking distance and the rest of Malta easily accessible.
We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely be back. Two nights definitely wasn’t enough!

It was unique, peaceful and so much more than we imagined. The photos do not do it justice. All of the staff were really friendly, and helpful.
Nothing bad to say at all, it was beautiful.
