Clean accommodation. Friendly staff. Swimming pool was fantastic
The veranda was in full sun most of the day and needed rush matting on top of the pergola. Consequently the living room became hot and needs air con.

The location and setting are beautiful. Katelios is a wonderful place with some lovely tavernas and a very chilled atmosphere.
Captains villas are well situated and offered a great base for us. They were clean and peaceful. The supermarket and bakery were very close by and the beach approx 10-15 minutes walk away.
Unfortunately the swimming pool was green and cloudy. We were informed that it was safe to use and that this was due to the recent wildfires however no other properties in the area seemed to have the same issue. This was the only issue everything else was great!

The pool is clean and a good size with well maintained grounds. Due to a relatively open aspect it can get windy but the trade-off is a great view of mountains on 3 sides. There were always enough sun-loungers and parasols although this may have become a challenge if all villas were fully occupied.
We really liked the location within 10 minutes of the wonderful beach at Katelios. A bonus was the local baker which was just 2 minutes walk away and does wonderful, if a bit expensive, pastries and fresh bread.
There are modern air-conditioning units in both bedrooms which are quiet enough to allow sleep (ear plugs advised for light sleepers). Beds are firm but comfortable and there's plenty of storage for clothes etc. There are full external shutters on all the windows which provide a very good blackout!
The bathroom is pretty basic but the shower worked well and there was always plenty of hot water.
Please note: these comments relate to villa no.5. and are mainly to do with serious failings in relation to the villa as a 'proper' self-catering option. We have no idea whether other villas are the same. While the kitchen is fully equipped with appliances (large fridge/freezer, full oven and hob), crockery, cutlery, pots & pans and utensils there is virtually no worktop on which to prepare food. The only option is to use the hob or draining board which is inconvenient and somewhat risky.
We were very disappointed that there was no table and chairs suitable for eating at on the terrace. There were 4 low, wicker chairs and a small coffee table. We resorted to moving the heavy wooden dining table outside for breakfast and dinner. We're quite sure this would have been frowned upon by the owners but there was no other choice.
The terrace is a good size but (in mid July) there was absolutely no shade between mid-morning and early evening so lunch outside is a complete no-no. Hence, I was moving the table in and out twice a day.
In general the kitchen/living area lacked any style or comfort - the TV was stuck in a corner with the small sofa pointing away from it so we didn't even turn it on.
From what we could see the other four villas are all housed in the upper floor of a 2-storey building with the lower floors not occupied (you get the whole building but only live on the top floor). In every case these villas have two balconies so there would be potential for shade / sun at different times of day on each. It may be that they also have actual table and chairs but I can't confirm this.
