Dar Yasmine

We had a wonderful stay at Dar Yassmine in Tangier. The property is beautiful, clean, and full of traditional Moroccan charm. The location is very convenient for exploring everything you want to see in the Old Medina. If you enjoy walking, you really don’t need a taxi, as many of the main places and attractions are easily reachable on foot. The staff were very welcoming, friendly, and helpful throughout our stay. Our room was comfortable and well maintained, and we really appreciated the peaceful atmosphere. Overall, Dar Yassmine was a lovely place to stay and a great base for discovering Tangier. We would happily return on our next visit and definitely recommend it!

The only negative aspect was not related to Dar Yassmine itself, but rather to some of the surrounding streets in the Old Medina. There were quite a few people asking for money or food,and unfortunately some of them were persistent and impolite, which could feel uncomfortable when walking around. This is completely outside the property’s control, but it is something to be aware of, especially if you are exploring the area on foot.

So centrally located. Just a ten minute walk and easy to find from ferry. Staff was friendly and helpful. Liked the view from the upper level room. Beautiful view from the breakfast room!

I had read the reviews about the smell of the rooms but was hoping I wouldn't have that issue. Unfortunately, my room which only had a window looking to the inside, smelled so musty. My friend had a room that had a window to the outside but with a smell she couldn't tolerate. She complained but was told there was nothing they could do. She and I switched rooms which fortunately were tolerable to each of us. Air conditioning control is outside the rooms for each level. Despite two staff members trying to help, it didn't work the first night. Fortunately, it worked the rest of my stay. Breakfast is included but was offered 8-10am, so we were only able to have two of five breakfasts because of our early sightseeing schedules. I requested at least coffee at 6:30am on two days. They were kind to oblige, but the coffee wasn't ready on time both days so we only had a little time to drink it before we left. Shower water kept spilling over beyond the stall despite my opening the drain. I'd have to turn off the water at least a couple of times each time I showered to try to keep the water in the stall. Grand mosque is so close to the hotel that I would hear the call to prayers blasted on speakers of the tower each time and even wake up to it in the middle of the night. My friend who had the interior room didn't hear it. I'd see an ant periodically in the room. Not a problem. However, on my last night there, I put an empty can of Sprite on the bathroom floor next to the trash can. About 1-2h later, an entire colony seemed to find it coming from a window above the shower stall, marching in a line around the stall, down the wall, onto the floor and into the can. It was past 11pm, so I didn't want to have to ask the male employee for assistance. So I got rid of the ones I could reach and washed out the can. Somehow that stopped the rest of the ants from coming.

Lovely place. Right inside the medina and easy to find. Room was comfortable and very clean. Breakfast was served on the rooftop terrace. Staff went out of their way to make our trip memorable.

Nice location, within walking distance of everything in the Medina.

Our room was so small we couldn’t even open a luggage on the floor. Bathroom was not clean and had other people’s hair in the shower.
