The place would benefit from some upgrades

Towels we're not provided by default and could only be booked in advance for a fee. I was traveling and missed that information so didn't have a towel after my shower. The windows did not have nets against the midges, and with a very hot night with no AC, that was very unpleasant.

Emplacement magnifique, la dry room est géniale (et nécessaire à cet endroit), bonne ambiance.

Sanitaires hommes pas confortables, pas assez grands, pas assez nombreux, pas d'intimité. Pas assez d'équipement dans la cuisine.

Cosy, basic hostel - recommended!

Hostel rooms, kitchen and bathrooms were basic but comfortable and well-equipped. Bathrooms very clean. Staff not permanently present on-site but communication via email was effective and very friendly. You can tell they care about the place.

While overall cleanliness was fine, kitchen and bedrooms (beds/around and under mattresses) could do with a deep clean.

Enjoyable lodge in a quiet environment

Very convenient lodge in a quiet environment. We felt as if we were youngsters in a small youth hostel, and we enjoyed it. The common parts were very clean and practical. Our daughter loved observing the deers nearby!

The price is rather high for such an accommodation, but it's everywhere the same in Scotland anyway.

Fine for our short stay.

Very clean, friendly cleaner, nice kitchen and lounge, nice view from outdoor seating. Co-op and nice pub close by.

Would have been nice to have a reception to assist with any queries, or offer advice on walks etc. Room was very hot, unable to open windows because of muddies, maybe screens? Unexpected vehicle access. Bit of noise from other guests.

Cheap but some aggravations!

Easy and casual.

Too far to go once we got off the trail. People next door had very noisy kids that were making a racket until late at night.someone left wet clothes all over ladies room.

Good sized room, basic but clean and tidy. The place is easy to find and close to train station and high street. They gave me the code for main door and my key was left on reception desk to collect so seemingly no staff in the property at all, which was fine given I had no issues but not good if there's a problem with booking or room - a phone number is not the same as having someone on site.

Could do with some modernisation throughout. The window in the room didn't close properly, though it didn't get too cold overnight.

Self-service lodge, clean shared kitchen, showers were ok with a seperate dry area to leave your stuff.

Rooms very basic, old type bunk bends, not very comfortable to sleep.

The bathrooms were nice, but the rooms were disappointing and not really clean.

The rooms were disappointing, had an ugly smell and the carpeted floor was not really clean. There was a dirty cloth on the tap in the kitchen.

It’s a hostel with shared facilities and private bedrooms.

Great location within a short walking distance of pubs and shop. Although there is no onsite parking the drop off point worked well and the walk from the free car park to the lodge was well signposted and only a few minutes.

No one’s fault but because of the midges you couldn’t open the window of the bedroom which made it a bit stuffy. I can’t offer a solution to this as an extract fan would be noisy and you can’t eradicate the midges.
