The place was quiet yet right there in the middle of the quaint town. Simple but good quick breakfast.
This is nitpicking, but the little tear open shampoo and body soaps were kind of a pain.

I stayed here as part of my walking the Camino Frances. Clearly, not many people would stay here unless they were walking the Camino, although it is a wonderful location near the top of the mountain. It is a busy hostal with a small area for eating/drinking. My room was good with a view from my window of the lightning during my stay! I have previously stayed at Rabinal, the village before Foncebadon. Both have their charm, but it is difficult to choose between the two, and my preference is Foncebadon, as I can get an early start to reach the Iron Cross before the day-trippers arrive by coach/car. Certainly a good choice.
Nothing I could say about the rain, but I got there 20 minutes before it arrived!

Having a place to stay.
Staff was stretched. When we checked in at 4:30 no one was there. The room was pretty basic but it is a very small town and we needed a place to sleep. Breakfast was very basic and little offered but coffee and toast. There was a good restaurant across the street fortunately.
