Nice Choice but expensive

Everything was so expensive (even food or drink) and also had at least 30% tax and service on each price And I didn’t like this

Would not recommend!

The pool and the facilities.

Unfortunately the staff at Mermaid Hotel & Club behave poorly towards locals or those who look like locals (me). The attitude and double standards were apparent to me from the get go, especially at the restaurant. This was extremely dissapointing as all guests pay to be at the hotel. This alone really took away from the fact that the pool and other facilities were good.

Don't pay before checking the room & facilities...

Beach front.. my rating of 6 all thanks to the beach atmosphere.... Secured parking inside a gated boundaries Friendly Housekeeping team placed some flowers (decor) on our bed upon making up room... Size of the room is good for a couple & balcony seating also nice.. we enjoyed the sea view and had a relaxing time thanks to the beach ⛱️

Very unprofessional. They ask to fetch drinking water from a dispenser placed at corners of public corridors and no bottles water given for guests.. not mentioned about it in the booking.com as well.(However, after 2 hours complaining and trying to approach GM we received 2 water bottles of 500 ml daily but overall it was a very insulting and disturbing situation. We paid in full upon check in for 3 nights without knowing this information) We bought our own water & soft drinks too from the restaurant (paid triple price) as I had to take medicines and we were tired from a long drive.. it was a very dissapointing incident... I hope the team gets better training on hospitality and open their minds to the world a bit more....if you are not providing anything, please be clear about it when u advertise ur guest rooms... No tumble dryer provided, no cloth rack etc... Bathroom amenities were very limited to a piece of soap & toilet paper .. We spent 2 hours till 9 p.m. to get our TV changed to another upon check in , maintenance team was supportive but Front Office should have coordinated with HK & checked everything before handing the room key as we pay to get a relaxing holiday and not waste time bothering about any issues... Very unprofessional that back office team & reception ladies jumped to the breakfast buffet even before the guest buffet time ends and very ugly to see how they serve themselves... hilarious... not much breakfast varieties as well. there was buffet breakfast on 9th & 10th July. We didn't stay for breakfast on 11th July, checked out around 7 a.m. Quality of food is just normal.. nothing wow No elevators.. balconies are connected and not the best security I would say Be careful from people trying to scam u.. they stand right outside hotel fence in the beach area..

It could be better.drinks were not very good. we didnt like very much.

it was a horrible experience. When we checked out of the hotel, they made us wait and checked the room. very disrespectful. So you thought we were going to steal soap dispensers or kettles from the room? They don't have the slightest idea about customer satisfaction.

We were well looked after in this perfectly peaceful place.

Lovely place. Very friendly, attentive and helpful staff. Food was DELICIOUS! The massage treatment was excellent. Proximity to the sea was a big bonus with loungers in the premises in the shade.

Wow..we loved it

We spend there New years days. It was beautiful experience, all inclusive was perfect and delicious, new years eve dinner was absolutely amazing and surprise! Stuff is perfect, nice, attentive and kind, and location, entrance to see, rooms, perfect!! We really loved this place..

Great value for money. Convenient location.

I have stayed at this hotel often, its proximity to Colombo makes it a great location for a long weekend. The food was up to its normal standards with plenty of choice.

Superb

10 stars to the hotel staff, very gentle and attentive. Breakfast and dinner were excellent with a lot of choices. We arrived a bit late and still were granted with a later check-out on the next day which helped with our travel plans in a positive way. Very appreciated.

Only an hour from Colombo and great value for money.

The Hotel has recently had some refurbishment work done and is now looking clean and fresh. I booked a deluxe room which had a bathtub from which I could see the beach and the sea. The food was up to its usual high standard.

I liked everything, this was my 6th visit to this hotel.

Very good for family on a vacation for family

Well the staff was really helpful with a lot of things, We had access to most of the facilities even during pandemic and eco crisis time. They even helped us out with special requests to watch UCL Football late in night not disturbing my wife. The all inclusive is very good at the hotel, well maybe some foreign alcohol would also be good.

Beautiful country, lovely people and a very warm welcome.

Very comfortable bed and great views of the sea from the window. Excellent variety of food (all inclusive) and fabulous service from all staff - room boys, waiters, bar staff, pool staff.

Air conditioning very loud. Water in shower too hot to stand under, and no cold water at the sink either.

the staff were AMAZING and make this hotel! Very helpful and friendly. the pool is nice although could be cooler.

The room we first checked into had dirty towels, AC was not good, plug socket was damaged (looked like it had caught fire). We complained and they kindly moved us to a much nicer room with good AC. The All inclusive food is not good, there isn’t much choice and there were ants around the food areas. we ordered al a carte most days and was ok. i wouldn’t pay extra for the All inclusive. No wines or cocktails are included which is what I prefer to drink, so again ended up ordering these and paying extra.

amazing stay and lovely place they have

food was really good, the room was really nice and really enjoyed my stay with the lovely staff. the beach was nice to see apparently couldn't go in but we did was nice having a shoer outside and near the pool

the beach boys bro my days said it was vape juice but didnt take it tuck 5000 rupees but the place didn't get told this and honestly they would understand but its probably a public area and they did get me cigs best advice would be to say no or doesn't give the money straight away

Very convenient location, only an hour from Colombo. Good value for money with very helpful staff.

I went on an all inclusive basis and this was great value for money. Plenty of different food choices. The room was bright and light and kept very clean by the staff. Access to the beach is steps away.

Disappointing

The staff absolutely doesn't care about their job. Cleaning is only halfheartedly done, stray dogs are left to roam about the pool area, while those who should keep them out sit around whiling away the time. The corridors and the rooms could do with some maintenance and a paint job.

Superb

Room and balcony with amazing sea view, Clean and spacious hotel area, big palm tree garden and clean pool, Food selection in the restaurant, Prasad and Anura, the internal tour coordinator and driver - big big recommendation, Very friendly staff, Billard table which was good in shape.

Weak Wi-Fi signal in some areas, Dirty windows in the room, Little mould in some corners in the bathroom.

was really good location wasn’t recommended to swim at the time what was really nice knowing, the food was good and loads of different types of food to choose from especially the local food

the sheets could do with being changing was ripped but that’s not much of a big deal

Good value....great activities.

Staff are brilliant...can't do enough to help. Particularly Samee & Cheeky in restaurant and Sheeva, a one man activities hero, who brilliantly looks after the miriad of activities on offer.

The food could do with improvement....it was ok and given the economic rate the hotel charged it may be difficult to improve without raising prices. The deluxe room was good but could do with a bit of refurbishment...particularly to the AC which is on its last legs.
