Darwin Deluxe Apartments

Great location for the four of us to attend the Darwin Festival and Aboriginal Art Fair.

Great big space. Lovely outdoor deck with view of the harbour. Nice, well-equipped kitchen. The owner was always available for information and responded quickly. There was a bit of a problem with the lock to the outside door. It’s very tricky to get the key to work. I hope that has been rectified

It was a roomy apartment suitable for family.

Photos shown on Booking. Com led me to believe we were staying in the wharf precinct, not out if it! The apartment was very dated. It certainly didn’t live up to its name of the Darwin Luxury apartments - it was big and basic, not luxurious. The apartment was superficially clean to the eye but very dusty upon closer inspection. The laundry smelled. The kitchen had small cockroaches walking around it each morning, and there was a trail of ants going up the wall. There was no broom to sweep the floor, only a bannister brush and pan. The salt and pepper shaker were empty. The bed in main bedroom was very hard and uncomfortable, so bad in fact I stripped off the bed and flipped the mattress around. Was surprised to see two single mattresses zippered together and old cheap mattress protectors covering it. The pillows were flat and uncomfortable. Flipping the mattress improved it very slightly.. Once again hardly luxurious. The cupboards in the smaller bedrooms were dusty and when clothes were put on them it resulted in the clothes ending up dusty. And needing washing. The coffee table in the lounge room was dusty, the curtains in lounge room were pulled off bracket. There was no clothes airer on the verandah as stated in paperwork.so had to drape pool towels and bathers on outdoor furniture which was, you guessed it, dusty ! The fixtures in the bathrooms were loose.
