Hotel whala!boca chica - All Inclusive

Rooms were clean. Plumbing problems and AC problems only in the bathroom. It could be easily corrected if the company put a water barrier /stopper to prevent the shower water from flooding the bathroom floor. The toilette float needs to be fixed. They just need better investment in modernizing their infrastructure. Hotel has lots of potential. Beach was a pleasant surprise. Water was very clear and the waves were subdued because of the man-made barrier. The sand was tan and clean. No vendors harassing you and good security around the resort and beach. Breakfast was included with the All-Inclusive. That is what added value. Environment had the tropical look and feel, which was a plus and the walkways were designed to minimize slippage. Trees were exotic with some trees bearing real fruit- nice treat to see. Chefs need to work on better seasoning and flavoring. Food could have been better, but it was satisfactory. Actually, for a resort, it was plenty of food, but the snacks and meals were not top quality. I would rate it a 6.5. Everything else about the resort except for food and some infrastructure was outstanding, which pulled down my rating to an 8. Still a good value. With a few infrastructure investments and some training for the Chefs and Food staff, this resort can easily become a 9.5 or 10 for a tropical place.

Chefs need to work on better seasoning and flavoring for buffet foods. Food could have been better, but it was satisfactory. After coming from Punta Cana and Puerto Plata, the food was a disappointment actually. It has too many preservatives, and fillers to stretch ground beef and hot dogs for snacks, and they could do a better job from preventing flies around the buffet area. Food safety must be considered and checked frequently in the hot humid climate. The ice cream dipper cleaning solution can be better than everyone using the same water to rinse off the dipper. Running water near the ice cream bar could be a better solution, but they ice cream water was changed but not frequently enough for the number of people and cleaning required.

Stuffs were great! Food was excellent. I enjoyed the resort.

Both beds didn’t have mattresses cover on them. In addition, there was no trash can in the bedroom. Wi-Fi wasn’t too good.
