Hotel de Sal Luna Salada

Everything was really great!! I really enjoyed our stay. I loved every single detail, the facilities are amazing, the food and also the service were incredible. I would come back more than once. Congratulations for all what you do.

The location, but, thinking twice it is really great to have a view of the Salar. So, everything was perfect!

Everything

The staff were nice, but most of them didn’t speak English。There weren’t many breakfast options, but it was fine considering the place is in the middle of vast salt marsh.

1.The shower temperature could not be properly regulated—it was either too hot or completely cold. After maintenance, it became barely usable, but the water pressure was very low and the water could not be turned off, so four people had to shower one after another. (Two-bedroom suite with only one bathroom.) 2.The master bedroom has two east-facing windows with only sheer curtains and no blackout curtains. With sunrise at 5:37 a.m. at this high-altitude location, the staff tried their best and eventually hung rugs from the bedroom over the window and even sprayed them with disinfectant. This was not an ideal solution, but it allowed us to get through the night.

On one hand: + the hotel is beautiful and comfortable — the décor is lovely, the common areas are stunning, the spa is great with very friendly staff, the buffet food was delicious, and the terrace is fantastic. + The rooms are spacious with very comfortable beds, beautiful views from the windows, bathrobes, slippers, clean sheets and towels. + There’s also a cool game room, where we spent a lot of time. Everything looked perfect at first glance.

However: - the front desk staff were very confusing. It felt like either they spoke poor English or were intentionally trying to confuse guests — neither option is good. For example: 1) When we arrived, we asked about dinner and were told it cost $2 per person. Later, it turned out to be $30–35 per person without drinks, which is very expensive for Bolivia. (The restaurant staff themselves were excellent, friendly, and definitely earned their tips.) Ok, I thought, maybe both of us (my husband and I) did’t hear the price clearly… 🤦🏼‍♀️ 2) The next day, I asked the front desk what time the spa opened. They said it wouldn’t open until evening. Later that morning, I passed by and it was already open with guests inside — very strange. Because of what the front desk told me, I didn’t get a chance to visit the spa that day, even though I really wanted to. 3) We pre-booked a taxi for 12 PM, and the front desk confirmed it twice. At 11:55 AM, a receptionist came up and asked if it could be at 1 PM instead. We said “NO, we have bus tickets, we need to hurry up”. In the end, we left at 12:10 PM in a car that looked like it was for tours rather than a regular taxi. Luckily, everything worked out, but the whole situation felt very disorganized. Other issues: - the hotel taxi was charged per person, not per car, which felt unreasonable since we paid $20 each (40$) instead of $20 total. When we took taxi from Uyuni to the hotel it was only $20 for two of us. - The in-room shower in “deluxe” was terrible — the water pressure was unpleasant and felt like a harsh massage, and after 10 PM the hot water almost disappeared. - The lounge, where you could order pizza, burgers, and other items, was disappointing — the pizza was awful, we couldn’t even eat it. In summary, this was a really strange experience. A night cost nearly $300, and we specifically wanted a luxury hotel near the salt flats.
