The room, bathroom and beds were all comfortable, and everything was very clean. We also had no problems with the Wi-Fi.
Overall, the room itself was pleasant and comfortable, and we appreciated having a good place to rest after a long day of travelling.
Considering that we paid over €400 for one night in a quadruple room, we felt that the value for money was rather disappointing. The room did not even have a TV, and during our two weeks travelling around Iceland we stayed in several properties of a similar or even higher standard for considerably less money — sometimes around €100 less, with breakfast included.
Another issue was the lack of privacy. We had to keep the curtains closed all the time because people walking outside could easily see directly into the room and even into the bathroom.
What left us with the most disappointing feeling, however, was our experience at the restaurant. We arrived at around 8 pm with our two children after an unexpected delay and were unfortunately told that there was no availability. Of course, we understand that the restaurant may have been fully booked, but as guests staying at the hotel, and especially with two children who still needed dinner, we would have really appreciated a little extra effort to help us find a solution.
This was particularly unfortunate because it was our last night in Iceland, after 15 absolutely wonderful days travelling around this beautiful country. The room itself was comfortable and clean, but the lack of flexibility and hospitality in that moment left us with a slightly bittersweet final memory.
Overall, a comfortable stay, but unfortunately not an experience that we felt justified the price we paid.
