I loved everything about my stay at Hotel Gema. The staff, amenities, rooms, and gym space were all fantastic. I felt incredibly welcomed and genuinely at home during my time there. Plus, the location is unbeatable—supermarkets, banks, great restaurants, and the Punta Carretas shopping mall are all just a short walk away. I highly recommend Hotel Gema!

Gema Suites is very conveniently located, close to the Rambla, Parque de Villla Biarritz, variety of good food options (cafes, restaurants, grocery stores, ice cream shop, etc.), and public transportation. Neighborhood is safe and walkable. The rooms are basic but clean and include electric hot water kettle, microwave, dishes and cutlery, safe, flat screen TV and A/C unit. Beds are comfortable but mattresses are on the soft side. Outdoor deck and exercise room on 11th floor. If you reserve a room that includes breakfast, the breakfasts are simple but satisfying. The rooms are large in comparison with many other hotels at a higher price point. Internet speed is adequate for routine purposes, but if you have bandwidth intensive applications better to go to a local work bar.
Not a criticism of the hotel, but it is in an urban location and there is ambient street noise. So if you are a light sleeper, best to bring a set of earplugs. The rooms are sound insulated from each other, but Montevideo tends to be a noisy city (too many motorcycles and late evening/early morning garbage trucks).

Location is convenient, just 5 minute walk to Pocitos, 20 minute from Parque Rodo'.
Many restaurants and supermarkets nearby.
Cleaning staff is efficient and work out properly.
Breakfast: The selection was mostly sugary items, lacking natural options like whole grain cereals and yogurt. The bread was pre-packaged, and there were limited choices for fresh fruit and no milk available. I was also surprised that the trays weren't replenished; for instance, once the cheese and yogurt ran out, there were no replacements.
