Nestled in Smith Mountain Lake, this charming house for $268 per night is a great option for your next vacation. This two-bedroom, two-bath cottage offers the ambiance of gentler times with all the comfort and luxury of the present! Sweet By and By is a quaint and peaceful home located on a very quiet street directly across from the entrance to the State Park. The setting is beautiful in the spring and summer, and even lovelier in the long, warm Virginia fall. Yet, the wooded lot, fireplace, and hot tub make Sweet By n’ By very private and cozy, and also the perfect place for a long winter weekend getaway. This home is truly wonderful during anytime of the year and the ideal place for one or two couples, or a small family. The one-level cottage style home is located on the Craddock Creek channel of beautiful Smith Mountain Lake. The cove offers deep, wide water that is great for swimming, boating, or cruising around in its five-person paddle boat or canoe. The home has central air, a laundry room, and a kitchen that is fully equipped for all of your cooking needs. Appliances include a full-size refrigerator, range, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, toaster oven, toaster, waffle maker, crock pot, and blender. The kitchen is also stocked with dishes, glasses, flatware, pots, pans, and cooking utensils. The hot tub and gas grill are located under the carport, so they remain functional even in the event of inclement weather. In the living area, a 50” HDTV is connected to cable TV with an expansive HD programming package, a DVD player, as well as a Netflix subscription. High speed wireless internet and a wireless Printer/Scanner/Copier office machine afford the opportunity to extend a weekend stay and work remotely if needed. A gas fireplace is available (except during the summer) to take the chill out of the morning air and provide a cozy, romantic setting in the evenings. Additional 40" and 32” HDTVs and Blu-ray DVD players are available in the bedrooms, as well as Netflix service. Looking out to the lake is a sunroom furnished with a rocking chair and lounge chairs, which are ideal for enjoying morning coffee or quiet evenings. It is a perfect way to appreciate those great lake views or to relax with a good book. The room opens to a lighted walkway. Off the top of the walkway is a fire pit equipped with a cooking grate and tools to enjoy campfire cooking. The walkway leads to a porch swing situated on a landing by the lake. The landing area can be warmed by a second fire pit. At the end of the walkway is a large dock with a sun deck. The dock’s amenities include: electrical outlets, lighting, a covered boat slip, a hoist that is designed to accommodate either one V-hull boat or up to two jet skis, and a floating dock that is outfitted for mooring boats. It is a great spot for swimming, fishing, waterskiing or just kicking back and enjoying the sun! After enjoying a day on water, spend a leisurely evening around the warmth of the fire pit or pitching horseshoes, if you are looking for some friendly competition. An RV port (w/ water and electric) is available near the entrance of the property. The property is also conveniently located near Mariners Landing Golf Course and would be ideal for a foursome interested in a golf weekend. The 5th hole at Mariners Landing, a par 3 over water, can be seen directly across the cove from the property. The Damage Waiver Fee provides $1,000 in accidental damage protection. There are discounts for weekly stays during the summer that are built into my pricing which are not reflected in the nightly rates shown on the calendar. It was a good atmosphere to be able to disconnect for a few days.

Very comfortable, clean, lake front property. Brought our 12 year old dog along. Multi level open staircase from back porch to dock. This was a challenge for an old dog. Amenities were nice, especially the large hot tub.

The house was better than the listing gives it credit. Communication with Marc was easy, he was quick & before and during our stay. House is in a great spot, loved the sunroom and hot tub. I think only our dog loved the house more than my hudband and myself. Personally, I enjoyed all of the trees even though there was some unwanted debris, nothing a provided broom couldn’t handle.
Cant wait to book our next stay, I think next time we'll have to stay the full week.

This stay was just what we needed. The place had tons of entertainment that we used from the kayak and canoe to the board games. We even were able to bring the dog so he could enjoy. The dock during the day is a great place to hangout and we spent a lot of time at the water. Taking the canoe out and going around to the the coves of the lake was so much fun. Just have to watch out for the jet ski on the lake. Then we ended the days at the fire pit or in the hot tub. It was the start of football season when we were there so even in the house we just relaxed with a game on. This is the ideal place to just get away and relax.

All was available for a fine fourth of July stay. Roomy with space to spare, nicely treed, and very comfortable. Lots of steps to water but all nicely staggered to make access easy.

This house had such a picturesque view from the sunroom to the fire pit and dock. The house was cozy( VERY CLEAN ) and had all the amenities to cook, relax and make beautiful memories. Looking forward to going back soon!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend visit. The rustic cottage is very clean and comfortable and the kitchen is well-equipped. The beds were very comfortable and we enjoyed the fire pit, hot tub, screened porch and the deck over the water. Wonderful!

This property is wondeful and made for the perfect weekend getaway! The cabin was super clean and cozy and the listing was very accurate. Marc is a very communicative host and is very easy to get in touch with. We didn't have the best weather while we were there, so we weren't able to enjoy the lake, but between the covered hot tub and the warm fire inside, the weekend was perfect. I definitely recommend this property and plan on booking it again in the future!

Stayed 4 nights, had a great time! Got to see some snow. Sat in hot tub watching it snow which was nice. Went on a fishing charter while there and caught two big stripers and a big smallmouth bass. Would definitely recommend this house.

From reservation to check in to check out the process was flawless. The owner and I communicated a multiple times. He was very available and answered any questions I had quickly. Sweet By and By is what I would describe as a cozy cottage nestled away in the woods on the edge of SML. If the Hot tub had worked I would have rated it higher. This place really shines for its convenience and comfort. It really is a home away from home because one could easily leave their home with some clothing and groceries and be ready to unwind by the lake comfortably at Sweet By and By.

We had a wonderful week at this rental. The place was clean and the kitchen was well stocked. The hot tub was a huge plus and we really enjoyed the swing located 1/2 way down the walk to the water. The host was quick to respond to our questions and very helpful. We could love to stay here again!!!! A great get-a-way!!!!

Privacy is a beautiful thing...
This is the perfect place to decompress and get perspective on life... Being mid February we weren't thinking about being in the Lake rather "on the Lake" and just absorbing the beautiful views and peacefulness of the area. Back enclosed porch is a wonderful room to spend time reading and just gazing out out a beautiful view. Our dog, Janet, normally is very skittish in strange environments but she just settled in like it was home. Coincidence? I think not. The framed poem "Sweet By and By" hanging on the wall best describes this place. "In the sweet by and by We shall meet on that beautiful shore ". When we do visit again definitely plan on taking advantage of all the fun equipment (kayak, etc) and go out on the lake. Only wish it was large enough to house 6 adults and 2 children.... Marc, do you have a larger house on the lake ? :) Thank you for a wonderful stay . You will never know how much we needed this... it was PERFECT.

Wonderful experience at the lake
We were looking for a relaxing weekend getaway on the water, and this was the perfect choice. Everything about the house is exactly as pictured and stated. In February we weren't able to take advantage of all of the "lake toys" provided with the house, but we definitely made use of the hot tub! The location is also very close to Mountain Lake State Park so we were able to enjoy hikes there. A wonderful experience, and we would do it again.

What a marvelous cabin! This amazing home located right on Smith Mountain Lake has everything you'll need (except linens & paper products) for the perfect getaway. We loved all the amenities and spent our week simply relaxing and enjoying the amazing view. The Sweet By and By home is in pristine condition, clean and inviting, with everything a person could desire. It was one of the BEST vacations we've ever had, and we'll absolutely return to this sublime property.

This is an awesome property with an awesome owner! We made several kayak trips around the lake and found the cove we were in to be the best! We were able to watch some skiers but also enjoy paddling and floating by the dock. Best of both worlds. If we contacted the owner he responded quickly. He also bailed us out on some forgotten items! Book this property, you won't be disappointed!

This is a nice, cozy cabin with well stocked kitchen, good sized rooms and lovely four seasons room. Owner was super responsive and accommodated a late check-out because of a family emergency. Recommend this place to others.
