Tolles Apartment außerhalb der Stadt und sehr netter Gastgeber. Guter Ausgangspunkt um Nordlichter zu beobachten, aber ein Mietwagen ist unbedingt erforderlich, denn Supermärkte sind in 10 -15 Minuten mit dem Auto erreichbar. Es war nett die durch Futter angelockten Tiere (Vögel und Eichhörnchen) am Morgen beim Kaffee vor dem Schlafzimmer- und Wohnzimmerfenster zu beobachten. Die Sauna haben wir auch gerne genutzt. Die Trockenmöglichkeit für feuchte Kleidung ist aus sehr sinnvoll.
Kleine Anmerkung bzw. Verbesserungsvorschlag: Die Matratze des Doppelbetts könnte evtl. ausgetauscht werden, da sie gefühlt in der Mitte etwas erhöht ist. Bei den Einzelbetten sind die Matratzen für Erwachsene etwas zu dünn. Außerdem könnten ein paar mehr Steckdosen an geeigneten Stellen nicht schaden.

*The Host* ...an absolute gem. Markku ran through all the info we needed to run the house. He was so down to earth and so lovely!!!
Not only that,but when the Northern Lights were peaking above the house,he got in touch straight away to tell us! 10/10 for this man! The apartment was lovely and cosy,far enough outside the city so that we had the most marvelous view of the NL. It was ideal for the kids with outdoor and indoor toys,loads to keep them occupied.
We could also walk to the Husky and deer farm,it was so close.
I would go back in the morning to stay

We had the most wonderful stay at Kuurala Apartment – it truly is a hidden gem. The apartment is surrounded by beautiful forest views just outside Rovaniemi, peaceful and immersed in nature, yet perfectly located. The city centre is only about 10 minutes away, Santa Claus Village 6–7 minutes, and Apukka Resort less than 5 minutes by car.
The view from the windows is simply magical – the photos honestly don’t do it justice. Every morning we watched squirrels and birds having their breakfast right in front of the apartment. You couldn’t ask for a more perfect view with your morning coffee.
The apartment has everything you could possibly need: a well-equipped kitchen, a cosy and comfortable bed, a sauna, board games – everything has been thoughtfully prepared.
Markku is the friendliest host we’ve ever met. He gave us so much helpful information about activities and the area in general. He and his wife Vappu are incredibly welcoming and kind. On our last night, Markku even called me to to let us know the aurora was out. It was magical !! We watched the Northern Lights together with Markku and Vappu while having a lovely chat – it’s a memory I will always cherish.
The apartment is far enough from the city lights that you don’t need to book expensive aurora tours – if the Northern Lights appear, you can enjoy a perfect view just outside the house. Markku even provided us with a map to a “secret” aurora spot only about a 5-minute walk away for an even better view.
We had the best four days at Kuurala Apartment and truly hope we can return one day.
