Duiwekloof, Baviaanskloof — Review I spent a weekend at Duurweklop and honestly… It’s one of those places that resets your brain a bit. The stay We stayed in the Blue Duiker cottage. It can sleep six, but there were just two of us, so it felt like we’d somehow overachieved. It’s not fancy. At all. But it had everything we needed. Comfortable bed, enough space, proper “we came here to switch off” energy. No one goes to the Baviaanskloof because they want luxury anyway. The team were great. Friendly, relaxed, showed us around and then left us alone, which I always appreciate more than a full hospitality performance. Also, Bunder and Ria. The two resident dogs. Absolute highlights. They basically joined our weekend plans without asking, and I wasn’t mad about it. What we did We did the Bakkrans hike (part of the Canyon Trail), which I’d 100% recommend. About 7 km in total One proper climb that makes you question your life choices briefly A fairly steep descent on the way back We took it slow and finished in around 2.5 hours. It’s doable if you’re reasonably fit, and the views make it worth it. Facilities A swimming pool and a reservoir you can swim in Main area with cold drinks, tea, and coffee Wi-Fi and electricity Just note, it’s not a restaurant setup, so you need to bring your own food. Take a torch. The lights dim here and there, and it gets properly dark out there. Overall It’s quiet. Like, properly quiet. We only saw two other families the whole weekend. We loved it. Simple, peaceful, and exactly what we needed. We’ll definitely be back.
There’s a generator that runs roughly between 4 and 6 in the evening. It’s loud. And when you’ve gone somewhere specifically for silence, you really notice it.

Unique beautiful location. Great to see the Spingbok on the property and the 2 lovely dogs were a real bonus/
