A wonderful, tucked away in an enchanted bit of nature. The building is a living and well restored witness of more feudal times, but so lovingly maintained and resplendent that it awes and inspires you all the same. The rooms are eclectically furnished and well equipped. The staff are bend-over-backwards lovely and super helpful, late arrivals and all included.

A storm took out the WiFi complicating check out and apparently this is quite common.

- The waterfall. Genuinely stunning — nature really carried this one.
- The balcony. 10/10. Everything below it, less so.
- Breakfast pastries were fresh and tasty, and there was a good range of fresh fruit.
- Marketed as a château, delivered like a Holiday Inn wearing a wood-panel costume — the “real wood” is real convincing in the photos and real vinyl in person.
- Reception operated on a schedule known only to them. No WiFi code, no orientation, just vibes.
- The listing promises three restaurants. There is one. Unless the other two are invisible, in which case, kudos on the concept.
- There’s a bar in the same way there’s a unicorn in the garden — technically mentioned, never actually seen. No staff, no drinks, no bar. Deeply inconvenient when you’re in the middle of nowhere with zero backup options.
- Bike rental: no. Concierge: no. Themed evenings: no. Walking tours: no. Radio: no. The TV in our room didn’t work either.
- No pool umbrellas, so bring your own shade or your own sunburn.
- Restaurant serving average, overpriced food to a room with a slightly unsettling atmosphere. The wine, to be fair, showed up to do its job properly.
- Little cost-cutting touches gave it away too — the “cheese course” at dinner was just the same cheese from the breakfast buffet, dressed up with a different plate.
- Most concerning: we watched a sick chicken from the coop opposite our room get attacked by other birds. We reported it and asked for help, but no one intervened for over 24 hours. It left us with real doubts about how the animals on the property are cared for.
