Nestled in Hillside, this lovely house for $68 per night is a great option for your next break. The bedroom is located in the basement of a newly renovated private house with family living upstairs (husband, wife and son). The basement is finished and looks like home. The bedroom is appointed with the comforts that a traveler will need including desk, flat screen TV, appropriate lighting, dresser, closet, WIFI, etc. There is also access to a private newly renovated bathroom that includes a full stand up shower. Adjacent to the bedroom is a laundry room were the guest can use free for there belongings. The property is located in a Newark, NJ neighborhood that is safe and tree lined with a large park and lake just two blocks away. Once in the park guest can hike, jog and or bike. If you have your golf clubs you can also play a round of golf.

This is fine for one person. The bed room is small and so is the bed. The owners have pets and after staying there I had hair all over my clothes. Not ideal but I am not allergic. The bed is not very comfortable. The bathroom is nice.

Nice place to stay! Had a concert at the Prudential Center and this location was very convenient and private. Was able to go in and out whenever I wanted and could easily find parking on the street at any time. Thanks!

The property is a nice older home located in Newark, NJ. My host greeted me the evening that I checked-in and let me know the information I needed in order to access the residence and the room where I would be staying. Mr. Simms was cordial, polite and a delight to talk to regarding the property. My stay was nice and I was comfortable the whole time I was there. My host and I previously discussed if parking would be a problem, as sometimes it can be a problem in big cities. I was able to securely park my full-size truck on the property within one residence every night from where I was staying, so it was convenient. The room is quaint, with amenities such as a small microwave and a mini-fridge which was unexpected. There is a closet in the room where these two appliances can be found, and it's nice if you have to refrigerate any leftover food or vital prescriptions or medications. There are plenty of outlets to connect a cell-charger, laptop, CPAP machine, etc. Overall, I was very pleased since the stay was extremely affordable for an overnight stay in the current economy. The bathroom was nice and the stand up shower was very adequate. The seal at the bottom of the door had a small crack, so I placed one of the towels down so as to not slip on the tile floor which could become wet. The only other thing I noted was that the light switch seemed to be missing a screw, so I used the two table lamps instead so as to not damage the switch further. I would recommend this property to anyone needing to stay for a week or so. It is a small room, however its affordable and adequate for one or two adults. This is a gem so close to landmarks like the Statue of Liberty, New York City, and other surrounding pillars of culture. My host was nice, communicated very well prior, and during my stay. Thank you again, Mr. Simms.

William and his family were very nice and accommodating with great suggestions on restaurants and activities (like the Jersey City Jazz Festival where they let us borrow a couple of collapsible chairs). The bedroom is fairly small but has a dresser which was beneficial and the washer and dryer both look new. There are fairly steep stairs going down to the basement room and the neighborhood is not the best. Very close to the Newark Airport which is great for travelers.
