The service, friendliness of the staff and the huge clean and private pool in the villa was great. Breakfast was also good. Value for money.

The facility is on the older side and some parts need maintenance. We also had sewage odor in one bedroom. Be aware that some rooms are smoking rooms.

We liked everything

We stayed at Grand Metropark Villa Resort Sanya Yalong Bay from March 23 to April 2. This was our first family vacation in Hainan and our first family trip to China, so this experience was especially important to us. We booked a villa with a private pool through Booking.com. Positive: There are definitely some strong points worth mentioning. The private pool at the villa is large and spacious. The hotel grounds and main reception area are very presentable and create a good first impression. Shuttle service between the reception and villas runs frequently, and in most cases responds quite quickly. The staff generally tries to address requests — for example, when we asked, they arranged additional pool cleaning. The hotel buffet is also enjoyable: a good variety of food and live music every evening, which creates a pleasant atmosphere. The staff overall is polite and friendly, especially the older employees. However, younger staff often appeared tired or dissatisfied, particularly shuttle drivers, who sometimes seemed unhappy with their job.

Areas for Improvement: 1. Smoking / Non-smoking villas There is no clear separation between smoking and non-smoking villas. At first, we were placed in a smoking villa, and the smell was very strong and unpleasant. Later we were moved to another villa, which was fine. This should be managed properly, especially for families with children. 2. Food and labeling There is almost no clear labeling of food (meat, vegetarian, halal, etc.). Staff is not familiar with these distinctions. Pork and non-pork dishes are not properly separated. For guests with religious restrictions, this is a serious issue. Also, the menu is repetitive and lacks variety. 3. Pool maintenance The pool is large, but filtration seems weak. We had to request cleaning ourselves. For long stays, cleaning should be done regularly without requests. 4. Beach access This was one of the biggest issues. The shuttle does not go to the beach, only to the main road. From there, you need to walk about 1 km. There is no private beach, no showers, no changing areas. After swimming, you must walk back covered in sand. We were told the shuttle cannot go to the beach due to police restrictions. However, this should not affect guests. Because of this, we only went to the beach 2–3 times in 10 days. 5. English language Many staff members do not speak English. Reception tries to help with translators, but in restaurants communication is very difficult. For a hotel with many international guests, this is a problem. 6. No response via Booking.com Before the trip, we sent several questions via Booking.com (about transfer, food, villa, etc.). We sent them in English and Chinese, but received no response. This created inconvenience during planning. We ask both Booking.com and Grand Metropark Villa Resort Sanya Yalong Bay to improve response time.
