Lovely peaceful stay on the grounds of a small family-owned chateau in a beautiful part of France.
The setting of this gîte is incredible as it is in the grounds of a small chateau in a rural location, and is actually the clocktower of the chateau (but not noisy at all). There is a sneaky peacock in the grounds, plus red squirrels, an owl, and lots of other flora and fauna - perfect for lovers of nature. We were here at the end of the season, as Autumn was starting it's display of colours, which was beautiful, and the weather was still mild.
The gîte accommodation was spread over three floors, with a tiny but well equipped kitchen (gas cooker/fridge/utensils/crockery... a downstairs toilet off the entrance hall, a large double bedroom (plus camp-bed) on the middle floor with a shower room, with sink (but no toilet) and a table. And the bed was comfortable but low. While the top floor has two single beds, and a bathroom and separate toilet. The stairs to the third floor are quite steep and might be difficult for young children or older people.
It was comfortably furnished, with a table and chairs for 4. A two seater sofa, plus two upholstered chairs and a coffee table, in the ground floor sitting room There are storage heaters, and we found that the one in the sitting room if left on (we were there in mid-October, so starting to get a little chilly on non-sunny days) allowed heat to spread to the higher floors. It is necessary to have car or other transport as it is rural, with a restaurant and small shop in the village, which is pretty. It was such a peaceful and beautiful place to stay, and had bags of character.
Being rural the phone signal could be temperamental. There is no wi-fi (which we were aware of and were happy to accept) so would be perfect for anyone looking for a holiday from technology.
