About this cabin rental
Located in Canyon Lake, this charming cabin for $197 per night is a great option for your next vacation. Welcome to the Honeymoon Cabin at the The Guadalupe River Road Retreat! We have three additional cabins (VRBO codes 7914761, 9451823, and 2016286) sharing six beautiful acres of Guadalupe river frontage, where guests are free to wander the park like setting under the shade of majestic oaks, pecans, and cypress trees. Enjoy fantastic views of the Guadalupe river from cabin decks and bench swings, take a nap in a hammock, relax and cook smores at our firepits, or play tennis day or night on our newly resurfaced tennis court, and of course spend time in and on the river! Our retreat differs from many of the rental options on the river. We cater to families, couples, reunions and small groups who want a tranquil environment and wish to avoid the rowdy crowds and party cabins. We limit group sizes to what the cabins can comfortably accommodate, and we enforce our property rules regarding day guests, loud music, and disorderly conduct. If you are looking for an oasis on the river, a place where you can have fun but also relax in comfort, peace, and privacy, Guadalupe River Road Retreat is the place for you! General info. The Guadalupe River Road Retreat is located at 8910 River Road between the second and third crossing, halfway between Gruene and Canyon Lake, and is accessible via an electric gate (code provided upon booking). We have two river access points, a concrete dock with steps down, or via a natural path down to a sitting area under the canopy of two massive cypress trees. Across the river from the property is a unique limestone expanse carved by the river where guests frequently enjoy hanging out, playing in the water, and watching the toobers float by. There are multiple river outfitters within a short distance of the property, with the closest being Mountain Breeze which is less than a quarter mile from our access gate. Gruene Texas, famous for its shops, restaurants, and the historic Gruene Dance Hall, is only nine miles (15 to 20 minutes south of our location). Sattler, where guests can find a small grocery store, gas, and other necessities, is only five miles (approximately 13 minutes) to the north.

My husband and I stayed at this property and felt it was the perfect find. The hosts were welcoming and so nice. We walked down to the water, set up our chairs and enjoyed the floaters passing. I highly recommend any of their rentals on this property.

Location is amazing. Just a min walk from the river. Cabin was furnished with everything you could possibly need. The host even provided supplies to make s’more’s!! This is the cleanest rental we have stayed in. We will absolutely return!!

Grounds & spot on the river are breathtaking! It was wonderful waking up listening to the river & the birds & the surrounding nature. Cabin was cute, quaint & had everything that we needed. Carlton & Laura are wonderful hosts. Highly recommended!!

If you're looking for a quiet get away look no further. Quaint, beautiful and roomy home for 2 with full kitchen and walk-in shower. And don't forget to bring your tubes and river chairs. The calming waters of the Guadalupe await you out the back porch and a short walk down the stone steps for easy access to and a relaxing day on the river. There are also plenty of chairs to sit in just above the river bank. Enjoy your meals on the large back porch while watching the birds at the bird feeders and listening to the flow of the river below. There's plenty of room to take a walk around the beautiful tree covered property. And the wildlife come out at night! While enjoying supper on the porch we saw 2 foxes, a raccoon, and later a group of deer who come out to feed at night. Owners Laura and Carlton are also raising some ducks you can even enjoy visiting with up close. If you need anything during your stay, Laura and Carlton are just a stone's throw away on the property. If they don't have what you need or forgot, they can tell you where to get it nearby. They were great and friendly hosts. So glad we found this beautiful place. We will definitely be going back again and again.

Little piece of paradise
Warm welcome by hosts including detailed information about the property and area. Cell service is not great but WiFi provided was excellent. The cleanest rental we have been to, and we have been to dozens this year. The wildlife on the property made it feel like you were in your own animal sanctuary. Water access was perfect, but the property also allowed tons of shade. Beautiful spot for morning coffee and a day full of fun on the river. We already want to come back!

Great weekend
Cabin is located on the river and located perfectly if want to get out and visit local restaurants and listen to bands that play on weekends. Great place to sit on the river and relax.

Great little cabin on River Rd.
This has the perfect place on the River. Great stay. Will be back. The only problem was the shower. It was a little comical trying to take a shower. It would be difficult for a bigger person. Thanks Carlton for sharing your place on the River !

Loved the atmosphere
We went there for the weekend for our 1 year anniversary and also to celebrate us getting ingaged and we had a blast where we were staying at. Everyone was sooooo nice to us and the hostess was amazing. We are planning on going here next year with our kids and every year after that.

It was a little hard to find, but once we did it was awesome.

I can’t imagine more friendly or gracious hosts.
The bathroom was a little too small for us , but being able to sit in the shade by the river made up for everything.. we would definitely go back if they had a little larger place
