A great location for exploring the Isle of Purbeck and easy to get into several places by the bus, which comes through the village. Pretty church too. The pub is a lovely old building, quite big and rambling with many small rooms and nooks and crannies. Fantastic terrace garden with stunning views over to Corfe Castle. Good food, good portions and a choice of good beers too. Breakfast was good. Although the bedroom is small-ish, it had everything we needed.
The decor is a little tired in places but it didn't detract from our stay and maintaining such a big building must be difficult and costly!

Location, Staff - very helpful, food - tasty and well cooked, bed comfortable, price was fair. The pub is quirky with a large number of rooms in which to eat. The one where we started dinner was very noisy for those wearing hearing aides. The staff relocated us to a different room and switched off the music, which was ideal for us.
The rooms and stairs to them all look tired. They need some refurbishment and a good redecoration. Those who clean need to dust behind the bedside cabinets, which have to be moved to access electrical sockets, which reveals cobwebs etc. The bannisters are sticky so need a good clean.

Peace and quiet. Space in rooms. Good breakfast. Village location.
Terrible decor state - very dated. Paper hanging off the ceiling. Grubby carpets. Very soft worn out mattress. Windows not working. No toilet roll holder. Loose and dangerous toilet seat.
