We really enjoyed our stay at Yaye Guest House. Shantha is a genuinely kind and thoughtful host who clearly enjoys welcoming people into his home. He prepared very good meals and generously shared his knowledge about the garden, the plants and the many birds that can be seen around the property.
Our child felt comfortable straight away. Shantha took the time to play in the garden and show him small things around the house, which made the stay extra special for us as a family.
Yaye Guest House is a calm and friendly place, and staying here added a lot to our time in Tissamaharama. We would happily recommend it to others looking for a personal and authentic stay.

Shantha was the ultimate host! What a kind and generous guy. We used his place as a stop off point on a long cycle from Midigama and Arugam Bay. It was perfect and so was Shantha’s hospitality. From our arrival he treated us so well with juices and a coconut and then continued to all the way through to breakfast the next day. This included Shantha’s fantastic dinner that we had requested which was a delicious and perfectly cooked fish with rice and salad and his special Dhal curry. This place and Shamtha are a gem. The location gives you a real feeling for rural Sri Lanka with rice fields surrounding the property. Fantastic for walking and in our case cycling!

Ich kann einen Aufenthalt im Yaye Guesthouse sehr empfehlen! Es liegt etwas außerhalb von den Ortschaften inmitten von Natur sowie in der Nähe des Yala Nationalparks. Der Gastgeber hat uns auch eine private Safari dorthin organisiert zu einem guten Preis. Es gibt zwei Zimmer mit Doppelbett, gute AC, Moskitonetz und eigenem Bad. Es war für dortige Verhältnisse äußerst sauber und gut ausgestattet. Außerdem kocht der Gastgeber gerne Fisch oder Reis und Curry, für uns sogar extra vegan / vegetarisch. Auch das Frühstück war super, es gab auf Wunsch sogar extra Coconut Roti oder frische Säfte.
Und es gibt eine süße Hauskatze und eine Kröte :)
Wir sind spontan länger geblieben als geplant und würden wieder herkommen!
