Really pleasant apartment in a convenient location
The apartment was excellent and within easy walking distance of the Cathedral and Market Hall.
The nearest overnight carpark was a short walk away across the river. However, Ghislain showed me how to get there and walked back with me. He was most helpful.

Relaxing, peaceful, cosy, warm and welcoming. Well equipped for a longer stay. We would definitely come again!
Warm, light, clean, neat, tidy and well cared for with a well equipped kitchen, tea towels, cloths, extra towels, flannels, blankets and pillows as needed. The entrance hall has coat hooks, an umbrella stand, and a convenient bench on which to sit when putting on/off outdoor shoes, and also provides a space to store them so one doesn’t trip over them in the hall. There are wardrobes and/or coat hooks to hang ones clothes by each bed. We were delighted to find a tea pot and tea strainer, (as well as dishwasher tabs) which we have often found lacking in other apartments. The shower is roomy, with a good strong flow of water. A non-slip mat and a stable shower stool is provided, if needed. (The hot water is indeed very hot.) Cotton wool, cotton buds, tissues, soap and shampoo are provided. There is a large heated towel rail on the bathroom wall, and the bathroom is warm and well lit. The property is in an apparently old, renovated and quiet building, right in the center of town, on a hill, within easy walking distance of the museum, the Cathedral, the covered market -which sells fresh meat, bread, fruit, vegetables, fish, etc.- and is also close to a number of restaurants. The property has a westerly view (great to sit and watch the sunset over the rooftops and spires of Metz of an evening), and has a double bedroom and two single beds (in the living room). One bed is used as a sofa, the other is tucked into a cosy alcove with its own small window, bedside light and wardrobe. Here the sleeping space is separated from the living room by a curtain that provides some privacy. The television was simple to use, and there is one in the living room and one in the main bed room. The blinds are electrically operated. The owner has provided books on Metz and leaflets about various attractions as well as a map to show those closest to the apartment. The internet was easy for me to connect to with my phone and iPad. This is a non smoking property, which we appreciated.
Parking is 30€ per day in the nearest car park, which is slightly downhill from the property. Here one can use the Easypark app to manage one’s parking fees. We parked at the Theater for around half this price as we could walk everywhere easily from the property. The property is in a narrow one way street, with traffic passing regularly, hence one cannot park by the front door to load/unload luggage. Whilst I was able to connect to the 5GHz WiFi, my partners phone was not able to identify it. We spoke to the owner, who agreed to also make the 2.4GHz Wifi available. My partner (who weighs over 100kg) complained that he found that the toilet wobbled, however I did not experience this myself. We like to read in the evenings, and addressed the lack of a sufficiently highly placed reading lamp by stacking the books in the apartment and placing the lamp on top of the stack. The owner mentioned his intention to install a good reading light when we provided our feedback to him before leaving. The owner was helpful, friendly, easy to reach when needed, accommodating, and knowledgeable about what to do and where to go in Metz. He also speaks English, French and German.
