The location was incredibly handy for everything in the old town, the ferry terminal and the airport shuttle bus. Once in the studio apartment the views out across the old town are great. The studio had everything we needed, the kitchen was adequately equipped and the good sized bathroom included a washing machine. What was unexpected was that several times during our stay the towels were changed and the bathroom was given a quick clean.
Others have complained about the stairs but the description clearly says it's on the 3rd floor - if you can't carry your case up stairs then don't book this apartment. Although the initial kerb appeal of the ground floor entrance didn't give a good first impression, there was no issue with cat poo or rubbish mentioned in other reviews. Split old town is very old and so renters need to be prepared that generally properties and not perfect, shiny and brand new. If you want those things Split is unlikely to be for you.
The whole area around the building and local city wall appears to be part of an active archaeological dig. Amazing to see what's being uncovered of the old palace and to think of the 1000s of years of history around you.
Overall a good stay and an apartment that suited us. Would book again.
(Note interior photos taken on departure, the apartment was nicely made up on arrival.)
We arrived in the dark at around 9pm. A Google Maps pin was provided for the location but, at night in the dark, it wasn't easy to find the property. Split is quite a maze of little streets and passageways and Google Maps can get quite confused with the different levels! There's quite a few feedback comments for the property saying the same and, on that basis, I think it would be good if a map were provided. In a similar situation, the owner of the Dubrovnik apartment provided a short video via WhatsApp which removed any doubt we were heading in the right direction.
Renters should note that church bells in the city start at 6am, that's a feature of the city. The market outside the walls also sets up early but is good to mooch around. The only element which wasn't as expected was the balcony/ terrace. This is actually a narrow walkway along the top of the city wall and gives access to Room 3. The only area we felt could be improved by the owner was to provide some further clothes storage - we only found one small, short wardrobe and ended up keeping most of our other clothes in the suitcase on the floor. Nothing major though.

Was like the pictures. Good location, good price.
Smelled a little funky. Found mould in the AC unit unfortunately.

It was a bit challenging to find it within the old walls of the palace, and also the tower bells started ringing very loudly early in the morning and woke us up every day. This is not an apartment's or host's fault though. It is simply because of the location.

Nice little room, we only stayed one night before we flew out so it was perfect. But otherwise would be a bit small. Good location for the experience, it’s cool to be inside the palace.
Was a bit hard to figure out the entrance, so some more indications would have helped as we walked around the palace with all the suitcases a bit. Apartments are on the third floor, but of a struggle if you have heavy luggage.
Air con is not great, we were there beginning of sept which still very hot but would be tough in the middle of summer
