There were definitely some wonderful things about our stay that deserve recognition. The beach was absolutely beautiful, and the scenery throughout the resort was gorgeous. It was a beautiful setting and, when things were quiet, it was easy to appreciate how special the location was.
The staff were truly amazing and were one of the best parts of our experience. David and Hazel were especially wonderful—both were incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive. They went above and beyond to make us feel taken care of, and their friendliness really stood out.
The Edgar the bellman was also fantastic and provided excellent service. Wendy was great about responding quickly whenever we had questions or needed assistance, which we really appreciated.
Our room itself was comfortable and provided a nice place to relax. Despite some of the challenges we experienced during our stay, the kindness and professionalism of the staff made a positive impression on us.
Overall, the beautiful beach, comfortable room, and especially the incredible staff gave us some really memorable moments. David, Hazel Edgar, the bellman, and Wendy deserve special recognition for making us feel welcomed and cared for.
Our pool-access room door would not lock properly for the first three days of our stay, which made me extremely nervous. Every staff member we encountered reminded us to keep our valuables locked in the safe. That’s great advice, but the safes are very small, and it’s difficult to fit a lot of valuables inside. Having a door that couldn’t securely lock made us uncomfortable, especially when leaving the room.
Unfortunately, both my husband and I also came down with GI issues during our stay. I can’t say for certain what caused it, but we suspected the room water. Once we switched to drinking only bottled water, our symptoms seemed to improve. Again, I can’t say definitively that the water was the cause, but it was certainly something we noticed.
The construction was also extremely disruptive. Jackhammers started around 8:00 AM and continued until 4:00–5:00 PM. The main pool area was so loud that it was difficult to relax or enjoy the pool. We understand that resorts have to do maintenance and construction, but the amount and duration of the noise significantly impacted our vacation.
And the mosquitoes were CRAZY. I want to be clear that I don’t necessarily blame the hotel for this—mosquitoes are part of being in a tropical environment—but getting around 20 mosquito bites during our very first dinner was pretty miserable. It definitely made enjoying outdoor dining a challenge.
There were definitely some positives to our stay, but between the door issue, GI problems, constant construction noise, and mosquitoes, there were several things that made this vacation less relaxing than we had hoped.
