Sani Mountain Escape

Location is everything, rooms were beautiful and warm. Truly a great destination with wonderful accommodation to match.

Some items on set menu were still unavailable, however understandably so when considering where it is.

Sani Mountain Escape is situated right on the border of Lesotho and South Africa, with an excellent view down the renowned Sani Pass. Dinner, bed and breakfast were included in our booking, and the buffet meals were perfect. Not too fussy and definitely not boring at all. The food overall is simple, excellently prepared and sizable protions. The rooms are top notch. Absolutely beautifully decorated with a lovely fireplace to keep you warm in the cold winter months, which we experienced in full force, We were caught in a snow storm that left both the Sani pass and the A1 back into Lesotho unpassable. This is for me where the staff really stepped it up. They did everything they could to make us comfortable for the extra days that we were trapped there. Negotiating discounted rates for us with the owners, and keeping us informed on the weather and the possibilities of leaving. When we could get down the Sani pass, we were guided through the snow and Ice by one of the Mountain Escapes staff, who made sure that we progressed safely to the point where the road was safely passable on our own. I take my hat off to him as he not only guided us down while it was snowing, he then had to walk back up the pass. All in all, both the Sani pass and the Sani Mountain Escape provided memories that I will cherish for the a very long time.

The latest location was stunning. Food was good.

We had to pay for an electric blanket! visited in the middle of winter! There was a fire place but we weren't going to keep the fire going the whole night. No other form of heater. No TV in the rooms. My husband had to watch soccer at the bar, the bar closed at 10pm so we were forced to go to bed.
