Das Solheid Sunday House | Close to Main
About this cabin rental
Nestled in Fredericksburg, this lovely cabin for $137 per night is a fantastic choice for your next break. This little Sunday Haus has had many purposes in its life. Sunday Haus's were built by the farmers in the late 1800's as a place for them to stay when they came in to shop on Saturday and go to church on Sunday. Most are very small and have an outside staircase leading to another room or a loft. This room is usually where the children slept and the parents slept and cooked downstairs. After fulfilling its purpose as a Sunday Haus it was next used as a Blacksmith Shop for many years. Now the current owners are excited to share it with you as an overnight rental. Located just two blocks north of Main Street this wonderful little house is on a quiet street and surrounded by other lovely homes. The front porch is the perfect place to enjoy our crisp Hill Country mornings while sitting in the rocking chairs. Once inside notice the high beamed ceilings with the natural wood creating a spacious feel in this one room Sunday Haus. Enjoy the king iron bed with a tufted cream colored comforter and accented with fluffy pillows. An armoire is placed next to the bed and is used for hanging clothes during your stay. A 42” flat screen television has standard cable. Two comfy armchairs are great for reading or visiting during your stay. The loft above the bedroom is not available for guests at this time. The coffeebar kitchen has a small refrigerator, microwave and coffeemaker. There is a bar table with two stools. Enjoy the hutch in the kitchen showcasing the beautiful china from days gone by. A special treat in the house is the bathroom with the large glass shower boasting two shower heads on both sides and the concrete lavatory with plenty of space for your facial supplies. Outside is a wonderful private patio with comfortable seating and chiminea; wood will not be provided. On the side of the house is a round rock wall that showcases an old well. Great location. Easy walk to Main Street. Comfortable room with everything needed for short stay. Can’t wait for a return visit.

Enjoyed our night here, quite neighborhood and comfy place to stay. However, we continued hearing noises and husband was a bit creeped out with the open upstairs that was off limits. We understand it's an older home so they do make noises at times. Easy and pleasant check in and out. Loved the decor and all amenities was thought of that we needed. Thanks

We so enjoyed our stay. It was very close to downtown and had a great back patio and front porch. Lovely accommodations for my husband and I to celebrate our 34th wedding anniversary.

We stayed the weekend and slept so well! The king sized bed was comfortable and the area is very quiet! The size was perfect for the two of us since we did not intend on cooking for ourselves this particular weekend. The rocking chairs on the front porch and the private patio off the back were also very nice to have.

This is a wonderful little house. It was very comfortable with antique furnishings. Great bed. The bathroom is nice, but the shower was special, very large, made from rough limestone with shower heads on opposite sides. The house is set into nice grounds. It has a shared back patio. Very convenient to Main Street. Great place for a couple to spend a few days.

This quaint house was perfect. Our first visit to Fredericksburg for our anniversary. The cottage is well stocked with coffee amenities, bottle water, utensils and bathroom supplies. Plenty of linens although we did notice a smell of vinegar in them. The bed was comfy and the double head shower was amazing! Close enough to main yet far enough away to enjoy peace on the porch. Surprised with coupons for $7 off per person for breakfast at several different locations! That was great!

Absolutely beautiful property, great location close to Main St shopping & restaurants, and lovely neighborhood/neighbors. We really enjoyed all the butterflies, the deer and wild turkeys in the morning, rocking on the large porch, and all the little details in the haus that made it feel quintessential Fredericksburg (we really appreciated the Ozarka waters stocked in the house!). There were very few downsides, and nothing that detracted from our stay, but just to mention: the TV is a bit dated and we couldn’t figure it out, however we were so busy during our time in Hill Country it didn’t matter. Also the photos of the original owners (Solheid family) hanging around the room are a neat historical look into the past, but also a bit creepy staring at you while you sleep. I’m kind of a scaredy-cat, but I was fine with it after the first night! Will recommend staying here to all our friends heading to Fredericksburg in the future!

Cozy, comfortable, very clean cottage for 2 was the perfect locale to celebrate my Hubby's Birthday, especially the patio and porch so relaxing at the end of each day. The location of the cottage so conveniently close to all the shopping and eateries. Loved the vintage deco, comfortable bed, shower and the well stocked coffee bar and small fridge to keep waters etc, reliable WiFi, TV. We will definitely be booking our next stay at Gastehaus when we return.

We really enjoyed our trip to Fredericksburg. The cottage was close to Main St. We walked just about everywhere we went. The location was quiet and there were several deer that would hang out down the street in the evening. Great little cottage for a couple to sneak away for some relaxation.

A perfect getaway for a couple. Loved the quiet - away from the traffic noise of Main St. The house was perfect, except for the uncomfortable chairs.

My husband and I stayed here during Oktoberfest. It was easy to walk to the event as it wasn't far away, although there aren't many street lights, so it was dark. The house itself was very clean and the bed extremely comfortable and cozy. The only thing we feel needed improvement are the two chairs. We found that they were rather uncomfortable and unstable (low to the floor and slanted downward). We loved sitting on the front porch in the rocking chairs early in the morning while drinking the provided coffee. We'd stay again!
